Day 1

A moment later I got a quest involving them.

Okay that was a surprise, but it explained what these were for at least. Looks like I had an objective for today after all, with that I pulled out the item Strange had given me to contact him. It was some sort of long distance communication device I think? I barely knew anything of magic yet myself. I managed to send a message through it, took some time to figure out how though. I sent a message asking if Strange would be available to meet today, said I had something that could help him.

I received a message that he was in the middle of something, that it was Wong replying as Strange was busy dealing with someone called Baron Mordo. I replied saying that what I have might be able to help him, but I had no way of getting to them quickly. I got asked what I had, I explained they were a pair of cuffs that could nullify one's magic, only could be removed by the one that put them on the magic user. I found a portal opening behind me a few minutes later, a man walked through that I could only guess must have been Wong. "These cuffs you mentioned, where are they exactly?"

I explained that I was to ensure they got to Strange, that they were currently in a pocket dimension of mine that no one else could access, in return Wong brought me through the portal and asked me to wait here, stating that he would relay the information to Strange himself. The place I was in looked like an antique museum almost, artifacts and relics kept preserved behind glass, I took a seat on a nearby chair, trying to just remain calm and hoping that Strange would be able to return soon. "Strange is going to open a portal! He'll send his Mordo through, can you put the cuffs on him?" I heard shouted out from Wong. I nodded my head and summoned the max amount of clones, hiding in amongst them as a portal opened up.

A man with a green and gold outfit fell through, looking shocked before glaring as my clones swarmed him before he could get up. He was so caught off guard I was able to get the cuffs on him easily, his hands in front of him as my clones kept him trapped on his knee's, the others stepping aside. Strange came through the portal a moment later, Wong looking at my clones with surprise and Strange joining him a moment later. "This is... a LOT more clones than you said you could summon..." I heard from Strange. "I've been training a LOT since getting my powers, unfortunately I won't be able to for the next few days. So this is Baron Mordo?" I asked looking at this man who glared at me, a look of disdain like he was staring at an ant that needed to be crushed.

Quest available! You successfully helped Strange capture his foe. Your new objective is to use your mental defenses to convert this enemy into a new ally.
"Yes, he's been a consistent problem for some time. Unfortunately he's a very slippery one, but thankfully it seems like the cuffs you found worked on him." Strange explained, looking at the cuffs curiously. "YOU! Who are YOU?! HOW DARE you get in my WAY!" The man in cuffs spoke with rage and hate, glaring at me even more than before, looked like a vein was about to pop in his head or something. "Hey Strange? Would you take a look at this a moment?" With those words spoken I sent Strange a party invite and showed the new quest to him. "What do you think? Should I try?" I asked, feeling a bit nervous about attempting it.

"Under normal circumstances? No. However given what we know now? Yes, try it. We'll need every advantage we can get after all and he is skilled in magic." Strange replied, a few moments later I moved closer, my clones holding Mordo tighter as I began to move closer. A screen popping up as my party was disbanded. Perk unlocked! Mental Offenses! Now your Mental defenses can be used to convert enemies to allies, bend them to your will or BREAK them down. Whether it's a new ally, a maid, a servant or even expendable fodder, twist them as you need too!

Seeing that message stopped me for a moment, I was hesitating, how could I not after reading that? My Mental Defenses could be used like mind control? That was a fear inducing thought for me, there was a little voice in the back of my head though that reminded me of what was coming, besides I could always go ahead and undo it AFTER the dangers had passed right? With that I place my hand on the Mordo's head and found myself thinking a single word... INVASION.

I felt my mind suddenly LATCH onto his, I felt my defense waves suddenly charge across a rapidly building bridge, forcing their way into his mind as I was given different options for how to bend his mind. ALLY, SERVANT, BLANK. The first two were clear, the last one though I got a description for, it would wipe his mind clean, allowing my invasion forces to rewrite his mind completely. He's NEVER return to what he used to be, I kept my connection but carefully split my focus. "H-how bad is this guy exactly?" I strained to ask Strange, listening for his answer.

The answer I got made it clear, this guy was a near constant problem, that he was unrelenting in his determination to use magic for his own ends. With that out of the way I selected ALLY and my powers went to work, my mental invasion **** overwhelming his defenses, swarming his mind with the Parademons of the first wave and the Braniac Robots of the Second. It took several minutes for the process to be done, during which he tried to mentally struggle against them as best he could. The numbers were overwhelming though and soon his mind was broken down, twisted and reshaped to be a reliable ally against the coming dangers. I left a standing order for him to help Strange in any way he could, to work with anyone he had to in order to help the group.

Process complete! Ally created! You may now remove the Cuffs and issue orders. That was the screen that appeared in front of me, my clones stepped back and I undid the cuffs before stepping away, handing them to Strange as I passed. "He'll be awake in an hour, there's no more reason to bind or restrain him. When he wakes up he'll fully believe he's been under the influence of some evil entity, don't be surprised if you hear him apologizing for the things he's done..." Strange looked at me dumbfounded for a moment, before he burst out laughing, Wong shaking his head as he came out of the shock from hearing what I'd said. "That's not a very funny joke Zane." Wong said to me before I sighed.

"I wish it was a joke, but I never knew this was an option... If I had I would have avoided using it but... Like the professor said we need all the help we can get to fight what's coming right? I'm being deadly serious when I say he'll wake up thinking it's all been a terrible dream, that he's been under someone's influence." I explained, their faces looking stunned once again. With that I tried asking there was somewhere I could practice my magic or anything I could learn more about while I was here for the time being.

Strange nodded his head and had Wong lead me to several books and tomes I could read, my clones moving to read and learn all they could surprised him. I explained that I learned anything they did, that my clones allowed me to learn at an accelerated rate and currently I could only study or practice magic. I left a team of 20 clones reading through the books and tomes, studying the books Wong picked out for them. Meanwhile Wong brought me to an area I could practice and learn magic safely, helping to teach me what little he could while Strange stayed back to watch over Baron Mordo.

About 2 hours later an absolutely STUNNED Strange walked in, a smiling Baron Mordo going past the door without the Cuffs of Nisanti on. "How? How did you do it? He really believes he was being influenced! He spent the first 20 minutes apologizing, he KOW TOWED TO ME!" Strange was staring at me like I'd grown multiple heads or something, Wong looking at me equally stunned as he heard Strange ask his questions and explain what happened. Wong looked at me with a little concern, possibly fear. Strange asked me to create a bridge with Wong and had to convince Wong to accept, explaining that creating the bridge merely shares my own mental defense, that it would help to defend him against mind control. Eventually Wong relented and allowed it, wanting Strange to watch the entire process to ensure I wasn't trying to change or control him.

I never had that intention to begin with, which Strange explained once the process was done, the mental connection holding strong as they both relaxed and Wong loosened up a little. With that I left my clones there to study, increasing the teams size to 40 before Strange sent me back through a portal. Walking out of my room I found myself face to face with Helen. "Oh! There you are Zane, we have classes for you to attend today, where did you go by the way?" She asked curiously, I explained that I went to meet with Strange, that I'd gotten something magical to deliver to him. I got a nod of understanding, the professor likely wouldn't hold that against me, but I was still late for his class. So I of course sent a team of clones to his class, apologizing for being late while I got my remaining clones practicing magic, Illyana was nice enough to help them with that.

When I got done with class I thought about trying to head out, see what else I could get done today. I got a call from the realtor that Fisk had mentioned he would give my number too, answering I got asked when I could meet, after being informed that they already had a few places to look at I responded that I could try to meet them today. They gave me both a place to meet them and a time, so I headed out. Was barely at the door when Sarah stopped me a moment. "Zane? Where are you heading?" I explained that I was looking into something, trying to make preparations for something. She offered to go with me, since she didn't have the physical class today she had the free time to help me out, offering me a ride. I accepted.

So we climbed into her car and she drove us over to the meeting place, we hung out and talked for a bit until the Realtor arrived early. "Oh! Hello there! Are you both looking for a place?" Sarah blushed at that as I chuckled a moment, I explained that she had given me a ride and before I went off with the Realtor I asked if Sarah would be willing to teach one of my others how to drive. I got a nod before Sarah asked to join me, she still felt bad about what happened last time I'd gone out with her. So she joined me, we followed the realtor to a few different places, one an abandoned factory area, another a very decrepit office building, the last was a relatively normal house with a massive basement. Now all I had to do is try to figure out which would be the best option...

Well... guess that makes this decision easier... Then I heard the price of the places, the only one I could actually afford currently was the House, so I got the process started on purchasing it. I would definitely need to get started on gathering more money though at some point. The realtor asked if I was interested in the other places, I said yes but it would take me some time to get that kind of money together. Sarah gently pulling me aside as she asked why I was buying property, I explained that I had quests I needed to go after, this was one of them and I didn't see a time limit on it, besides I was gonna be training again as soon as I was able too right? Might as well put the money I got from it to good use. She nodded her head and asked if I wanted some help getting the properties taken care of then, I refused gently, I didn't want to take her money or anything for this. The realtor chimed in explaining that if I wanted there was an offer from the person that gave them my number, they would handle the expenses and allow me to pay them back at no interest if I needed the help, no strings attached.

I stepped away a moment, sending a mental message through the connection to Fisk. Apparently I shocked him when I sent it to him, but he was able to respond to it rather fast. I explained what I was currently doing, that I had missions to get all three properties and asked if he was serious about this. He explained it was better to work together given what he'd been shown, that he was willing to not charge me any interest as long as I paid him back when I could. I explained I'd likely need someone that could help to upgrade the facilities once I was able to get things moving, he responded that he'd get in touch with someone that could help. I had pretended to be on my phone, before returning back to the conversation. The realtor getting a message before gasping in shock, the poor guy **** for a moment before nodding his head. "Well Sir, good news is I should be able to get the deeds ready for your signature and the purchases pushed through relatively soon. I'll get on it right away sir." He gave me a handshake and headed off, already preparing to make phone calls as Sarah looked at me strangely for a moment. "Uh so I'm guessing you know what that was about? Anything I should be worried about?" She asked as she looked around on alert. "Nothing bad, but I'll definitely have to explain that to the professor once classes are over. In the mean time I guess we should head back for now, I don't think I have anywhere else I could go today. Well not one I could make it too via car anyways." Sarah nodded her head and we headed off to return to the mansion.
