Chapter 4

What does he see?
Darkness
The room was pitchblack as Garin entered the room. He was a bit disappointed, as he was hoping to have a better look at the serving wench's body by candle light. No matter. Her body would be worth possessing in either case, and he would have her body to luxuriate over in the light of the morning sun.
"Don't be shy, Serena. It's just me, come to get the best service the inn has to offer," he whispered.
As soon as Garin stepped into the room, the door shut behind him. A lantern was unhooded and he found himself in the room with two men. One was sitting in a chair, the other beside the door. The one sitting down was older, perhaps in his late forties. The one by the door was younger and very, very large. Both were armed with blades. Jealous father, husband, brother, something of that sort, Garin thought to himself. Unarmed and clothed only in a nightshirt, Garin still steeled himself for the battle that he knew was about to come.
The sitting man saw Garin tense. "Relax, swordsman. My companion and I mean you no harm. We merely needed to talk to you privately. The company you were expecting will be along shortly. She has merely been delayed so that we can have this discussion. After that, we will leave you to your 'entertainment.'
Garin relaxed a bit, but was still a wary. "I'm listening."
"We have a job offer for you, swordsman."
What job do the strangers have for Garin?
