Chapter 98 by Dragonkin134 Dragonkin134

What happens next?!

Dark secret, covered in a holy veil

The darkness that covered your eyes started to fade as you saw that your sight was shifting. You felt your body being dragged on the ground, though the ringing pain at the back of your head was still too much for you before you lost consciousness once more.

You soon felt your eyes able to open once more. You still feel the pain from the back of your head as you try to remember what happened. It quickly came back to you that you discovered something horrible about the church. It was then that you discovered that you were bound in rope, arms spread out and you’re unable to move your limbs. You were able to see that there was a wooden pole behind you.

You grunted as you tried to free yourself from the pole, but the rope was tied tightly, rendering your struggles mute. You do however draw the attention to the small number of Pokemon who were in front of you which you haven’t noticed.

“He’s awake!” one spoke.

“Didn’t expect him to recover so soon.” a second voice spoke

“It doesn’t matter. The time is almost upon us.” yet another voice spoke out.

You were taken back that all the Pokémon that was present were Psychic type, with a few being duel typing, as well as their wording is filling you with dread.

“What’s going on? What are you doing?! Why am I tied up like this?!” You cried out, straining against the ropes. “You’re supposed to be protecting those who you shelter here!”

“All this is to protect those who are within these walls.” A voice that was familiar to you sounded as the group split in the center and Valorie walked towards you. “Though you had to start sticking your nose into our business.”

“My business was looking for my sister, and with what I saw, this is not protecting anyone!” You argue.

“You’re wrong. This protects the vast majority of those who can be saved.” she said, closing her eyes. “We’ve had to deal with bandits, predators and the infected all around us. It’s draining both our supplies and the morale of all of us.”

You grumbled at her words. While she isn’t wrong about protecting a location from all hostiles won’t be an easy task for anyone, the secrecy, their wording, and what you’ve seen.

“It was then, we had a miracle…” Valorie stated, a smile forming on her face. “Someone who we thought was lost to the infection returned to us. He wasn’t the same, but he was there, and with him still here, we hadn’t had to deal with the infection as often as we had. His presence made this place safer…”

Your eyes started to glare at her, as your dread started to build from her words.

“Of course, in his new ‘state’, normal food wouldn’t be enough for him. It was then that I decided on what to do. In order to protect the many, few must be sacrified for the greater good.”

“In other words, you’re picking off unfortunate victims in order to sacrifice them to an infected that you’re housing!” you spat out.

“As distasteful as the method is, it helped everyone survived.” Valorie defended herself.

“You’re keeping this a secret! You trick and deceive those up there and throw their lives away.”

“To protect everyone!” Valorie stated.

“More like protecting yourselves!”

She gritted her teeth, but takes a deep breath. “Take it as you will, at least she wouldn’t be alone…”

“She?” you asked as you started to look around. When you reached the far right side of you, you witness a Pachirisu tied up on a wooden pole next to you. With a third pole laying bare.

“Kate?!” you cried out, your body jerking to get closer, but your bindings kept you still.

“She’s in a deep sleep.” Valorie stated, “Honestly, I didn’t expect you to actually show up. Fortune smiled upon you it seems.”

“You’re mad!” You growled out, “You would go as far as to sacrifice innocent children to protect your own skin!”

“Protecting everyone who seeks shelter here! If some lives need to be lost in order to protect the many is a outcome worth the cost! At least you two would be together when the time comes.” she stated. “Be thankful, your sacrifices will ensure we all survive.”

“You’re going to pay for this! I swear it!” you vowed, struggling again, but the ropes hold strong as you felt your body seizing up. You saw a Baltoy’s eyes glowing as it looks at you.

“We need to get this done.” The Baltoy explained.

“Not yet, we still need one more.” Valorie explained as she thought about the remaining Pokemon above. “The time is nearly upon us, but the risk is so high..”

You could only tremble as you look towards your sister, still **** and unaware of the danger you two are in. And even if you manage to use your electricity, it wouldn’t help with the ropes.

Panic sets in as your only hope seems to be with the others, who don’t yet know the truth and if they don’t realize it very soon…

‘Rachael… Neku... Everyone…’ you whimpered in a ****, yet futile plea, ‘We need you all!’

Back to Rachael
