"38...39...40...done!"

Jim's ability to keep a straight face and stay upright was all depending on the ability of the fence to keep him from tumbling to the ground. Despite himself, or perhaps due to himself, he had gone running again and this time, well, he had pulled a bit too much and he found himself a bit winded and still a good 5 or 6 blocks from his house. If there was a time when he would've thrown in the towel and called Laura to come pick him up, and if she were able to do so, that would've been about three blocks ago. Strange how chasing a ghost often led people into stupid situations.

"Hey man, you okay?"

He looked up and spotted a young man standing next to him and Jim barely recognized him before he turned and slid to the ground. "Sorry...just...not...used to...running so much..."

The man smiled and ducked into the 7-11 and came back out a few moments later with a gatorade and sat down next to him. "Here, man, take your time...don't drink it too fast." He was a bit too close for Jim to feel totally comfortable but as soon as the cold liquid hit his mouth, Jim forgot all about bubbles or personal space and his mind immediately began to process things. Like breathing. That was key.

"Thanks..."

The two men stayed there, Jim slumped against the wall of the store and the young man squatting in front of him, making sure that Jim took slow sips. Awkward would've been a very apt word to describe them and their position if it weren't for the fact that he was in need of something and the man gave it to him. "Name's Sean, by the way, Sean Maxwell. You're on my block, aren't you?"

Jim nodded, taking another swig, a bit longer this time. "Yeah...Jim."

After a few moments, Sean helped Jim up onto his feet. "Here, why don't you hop in? I can give you a ride back to your house." As Jim was about to shrug it off, Sean politely nodded his head in the direction of their houses. "It's going to be uphill the rest of the way. You're winded, you need to rest, and besides, you picked one of the hottest moments of the day to go for a run. Why don't we go jogging tomorrow evening? I can see how you pace yourself and we can get a better workout going for you."

Jim didn't have the energy to dismiss the idea and nodded. "Deal..."

A hot bath did wonders for his body and now Jim, as he stepped into the bedroom, fully appreciated why Laura took one of those often. He knew his body was going to hurt and hurt badly the next morning so, with some advil and a hot compress, he tucked himself into bed and pulled out the pad and looked at the quiz.

He supposed that there would be some desire to go with the simpler choice, being pink, but then again, if this was a quiz about what he would be like if he were born a girl, why would he limit it to just one color? Yes, he did like the color pink...but did that mean he would ONLY like the color pink and nothing else? A girl had to have options, right? And, to be honest, there were loads of colors and choices that women had to go through on the daily so it wasn't like limiting himself to just one choice would be a godsend, it might be a killer.

I would prefer darker tones to match my skin but I would love a lot of colors, blacks, blues, yellows, soft to match my body. He slowly put the pen back down and stretched before he got up to turn off the light and slipping off his cream yellow robe, slid under the covers and adjusted the pad to cover his legs before falling asleep.
