Dark Hour

I awoke with a start and flung myself outta bed. I heard a commotion down the hall and decided to take a look.

"Wake up!!" shouted Yukari. "Sorry, I'm coming in!"

Yukari burst into the room.

"I don't have time to explain," she said. "We have to find John and get out of here, now!"

"I'm here!" John came stumbling down the stairs.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"Hurry! Downstairs! We'll leave through the back door! Wait! Take this, just in case."

Yukari handed me a long thin implement, a naginata, and gave John a short sword.

"Okay, let's go!" she said. "Follow me!"

All three flew down the stairs and went through the kitchen to the backdoor Yukari talked about.

Said student stopped in front of it and took a second to catch her breath.

"Alright, we should be safe for now." said Yukari.

I heard Mitsuru's voice coming from a device Yukari had.

"Takeba, do you read me!?" asked Mitsuru.

"Yes! I hear you!"

"Be careful! There's more than on enemy! The one we're fighting isn't the one Akihiko saw!"

Suddenly, Yukari's face drained of colour.

"What!?" Yukari gasped, "Let's pull back!"

We ran up to the second floor.

"What are we going to do?" Yukari muttered to herself. "They're downstairs! Do we have any choice but to go further up?"

I had to wonder if Yukari was saying that to us or herself. We went further up to the third floor.

"Whoa, whoa!" Yukari said. "What are we going to do!?"

We went further up to the fourth floor.

"What was that?! It's getting closer! Keep moving hurry!" Yukari screamed before leading us to the final floor.

We finally reached another door which Yukari quickly unlocked.

"Oh yeah!" said Yukari. "If we go out through here!"

We ran through the door to the roof. The door was slammed shut behind us and locked back up.

Yukari let out a loud sigh of relief, "The door's locked. I think we're safe for now."
