Danger Rises Again
Flipping your eyelids open, you awaken to a bright, and fully beautiful morning. The sun on the horizon rises, setting a golden glow on the land that almost made you thing the world was perfect and without any evidence of chaos. It makes you ponder what the world would be like if you fail and digest in someone's stomach, and if the ferals soon ruled the world practically. How would life move on? Would the ferals just begin eating each other until the very last one is left? And what then? Stretching and yawning, you bend up and manage to stand up from your rest spot with cool air brushing past you. Your fur prickles and you almost shiver from the wind of the changing season. Summer shall be missed. You look to your left across the black smudge that used to be your campfire to the pile of Jackal's blanket, with the Typhlosion missing.
You flip your head back and forth, searching around for the fire type. The Typhlosion was nowhere to be seen. "Hey Jack, where are you?" You call out for him, feeling a little tension from the possibility of something to have happened to him. In response, a rustle in the leaves of a bush catch your ears' attention. Jackal's head then pops out from the leaves.
"Ugh, it's Jackal. I don't see how difficult it is to grasp that name. What do you want? I'm a little, erk, busy here." He answers in a foul mood. After a long, growling grunt, he blows a sigh of relief with a content smile, walking out of the bushes with a much flatter stomach. "Aaahhhhhh...much better." Well it appears that the Ekans had to come back out of Jackal at some point which added a thin layer of pudge over the Typhlosion's gut, you noted, as he rubs his rump a little before returning the blanket you generously put over him last night back into your bag.
The pair of you grab your things and continue down the road, wondering what may be at the end of it. Jackal mentions, "It better be a fort with plenty of guards stationed in it. I'm not going through some **** town expecting us to help them with all of their needs."
"Well that seems a little cruel to say, don't you think?" You retort from his lazy and selfish statement.
He shook his head though, "You haven't been in a populated village in a looong time from what I can tell. Small, rural towns aren't exactly the greatest safe havens during these times. If a village like it still stands, it won't last for long. They're practically giant dinner courses for ferals." The news came across you as simply terrible while the Typhlosion continues. "Typically, villagers are always wanting to persuade visitors and citizens to stay, because if a large majority of them abandon the town, what will the remaining Pokemon do when there comes a time for a horde of infected attacking them? It doesn't stop there, really. I've noticed the town help boards with each one I traveled through. They're just butchered with posters and requests of missing Pokemon and sad situations that you wish you could help with, but..." He peeks a glance at you, frowning, "...Why risk it finding someone when they're most likely just a pile of crap left out in the wilderness to decompose, you know?"
Before you could mourn the situation any longer, a shriek pierces the air. Your ears rang up as Jackal looks around frantically through the forest trees. "Wh-where did that come from...?" The Typhlosion asks with shakes hidden in his voice. Pinpointing your ears on memory, you glance past the side of the road and into the depths of the forest.
"The yell came from there. Leave your stuff to somewhere safe and keep your guard up." You advise. He nods and places both bags at a tree basin hidden from the road, following you into the midst of the ominous woods. The scream sounded like it was from a female, and whoever she were, it was clear that she was in danger. The two of you silently creep over the grass, yet keep a fast and steady pace closer to the noise's apparent spot.
Lifting a branch up, you instantly spot a short Buneary girl with oddly red-colored puffs instead of tan-colored ones, being pinned against the ground to what looked like a male Marowak.
The skulled pokemon headbutts the screaming rabbit, causing a final yell to strike out from her before she is knocked effortlessly ****. "Hey, get away from her!" You yell over to the Marowak with its back turned to you. Disturbingly, his heavy breaths cease and his backside remains facing you. Typically, someone would've spun around in surprise with the intruder's presence. As creepy as it could, it slowly stands up to what seems like your height from leaning over the rabbit girl. It tilts its head quietly, glowing bright purple eyes within the bone helmet's eye sockets as a low growl rumbles in its spit-dripping mouth.
Jackal simply growls back and sprouts out in a mad dash, running to the Marowak on all fours roaring. The Marowak simply raises its bone club, tossing it forward in a spinning chaos to nail one of Jackal's sides. The Typhlosion roars in pain while he's knocked back from his pounce, slamming into a tree as the bone boomerangs back to the Marowak's hand. Even infected, the feral still knew all of his predecessor's skills.
"You alright, Jack?" You call over in concern, but he only puffs out a small cloud of smoke in your direction.
"Shut up, it's Jackal! And don't worry about me, my arm is just stuck in this fuckin' knothole! Hurry up and save the girl ya stupid mutt!" He furiously yells as his arm was thoroughly stuffed inside a thick tree trunk. The Marowak growls in amusement as it begins to dash towards you, jumping in the air to your surprise! Unprepared for it, the feral collides into your body with a powerful impact that sends the two of you tumbling over the grass as...
1. You try to kick him off of you!
2. You prepare a punch with a surge of aura!
