Chapter 26
by CandidBandit
Do they get to eat lunch?
Damn, Boy Works Fast
Gray was toweling off with a towel that he had found in a closet in the locker room. They were generic white towels, probably provided by the school. Jeanne was doing the same next to him. His sight kept being pulled over to watch her dry up.
He decided to keep his Semblance active for the time being. Mostly just in case someone walked in and saw a boy in the girl's locker room. Gray didn’t feel like dealing with a sudden panic and the making of a hasty command with his Semblance. So, he kept the cloak of solitude on. He really needed to cool down anyway.
Gray was also thinking on how best to deal with the situation of losing a fight. Jeanne seemed like she felt bad for him before going off to take her shower, and chances were that the rest of their teams would give him some consoling words. That sounded really awkward to Gray.
So, how would he change that? If he even had to change it, with his Semblance.
Or should he just sit through their sympathy?
Once again, it wasn’t like he hadn’t been beaten by a girl in a match before. That wasn’t the issue. There were some pretty good fighters in his old school. There was no shame in it for him. It was a good thing that girls could be strong in this world, in his books at least. No, the shame was in having people make a big deal out of it afterwards.
There were some idiots that still felt that it was shameful to lose to a girl. Those people were bad enough, but he could handle them. Just challenge them to a fight, win, then point out that they lost to someone who lost to a girl. Makes them think uncomfortable thoughts. Very satisfying.
It was the other people that Gray had a little more trouble with. There were some people that understood that losing to a girl could bruise a guy's ego, so they ended up walking on eggshells around someone and tried to perk them back up with misguided sympathy. They meant well. They really did, but Gray didn’t want that. He just wanted to move on past the situation, with no shallow judgments on his strength from either group of people, the bullies or the sympathizers.
If both of them kept their comments to themselves, then Gray imagined there would be less ego bruising among guys.
So, he had no idea how he wanted to handle meeting up with his team.
Should he keep up the Semblance and coast through the rest of the day, or until he figures something out? Or just face the music. Let them act how they’ll act and just live through it, no matter how uncomfortable it makes him.
Jeanne and Gray were now putting their clothes on. Once again Gray kept on looking over at Jeanne as she dressed. Watching a cute girl doing such things was pretty hot, and as much as he would like being able to fuck again and again without consequence, the fact was that he couldn’t. He most definitely can run out of gas.
But he still enjoyed looking. A cute girl getting dressed was still hot to watch, regardless of the state of his dick.
They both eventually left the girls locker room behind and stepped back into the weapons locker room.
They were once again wearing their uniforms and were carrying their weapons and equipment back to the designated lockers. As she walked away Gray noticed Jeanne’s hair was still a little wet even after she tried drying it off. She did manage to put it back into her braided ponytail though.
On the way to his locker, Gray made the decision to face the music and let everyone react to his loss as they normally would have. It was sure to make him cringe inside, but he thought it might be for the best to get it over with. And with that choice made, he finally let down his Semblance.
Instead of the freedom and control he felt under the cloak of his powers, Gray now felt the growing apprehension of an uncertain future. However, he did distract himself with the great consolation prize of having just fucked Jeanne’s thighs. And there was still the fact that he could have sex whenever he wanted, with whoever he wanted.
Twas a great distraction.
Gray allowed that knowledge to cheer him up as he thought back on the sexual things he had done so far. By the time he had put all his things away he was feeling much better about the fight. With that mindset Gray left his locker behind and approached Jeanne.
For Jeanne’s part she seemed to be taking a little bit of time putting everything away. Gray could still see a small aura of awkwardness around her as he walked up to her. Gray had to look her body over once more. Her slim form really was pleasing to the eye. Her braided ponytail was cute, along with the shorter hair in the front. She had this tomboy feeling to her that Gray found incredibly appealing. Not to mention how easy he found it to talk with her.
Jeanne was definitely girlfriend material.
At that moment she glanced over in his direction with an awkwardly complicated expression. Once she noticed that he was approaching, her eyes flickered a little wildly before settling on a neutral face. She turned back to her locker and put her things away a little faster than before.
“Almost done?” Gray asked.
“Yeah, yeah... just give me a moment.” Jeanne told him almost nervously. She then cleared her throat and continued to shove her armor back in her locker. With a little less grace than before.
Gray just stood there and grinned while Jeanne hurried along. Eventually she got everything in order and shut her locker.
“Done.” She said with a small laugh. She might have been trying to hide her awkwardness but Gray saw through it. He only smiled in return though.
“Right, let’s get going. I’m pretty hungry.”
“Okay.”
With that Gray turned to the exit and Jeanne fell into step to his left. They left the locker room behind and strolled down the corridor leading to the lunch hall. There was a short silence between them as they walked, broken only by the occasional group of students wondering about.
“There isn’t a lot of time left before the next class.” Gray said after checking his scroll, and also to break the silence. “Probably should have cut that shower short.”
“Hehe yeah...”
She really was feeling awkward. Couldn’t even keep up a conversation.
“You know,” Gray started, getting her attention. “For someone who just won a fight, you don’t really seem happy about it.”
Jeanne jumped a little and stuttered out a reply.
“I–I just thought that... m–maybe it would have been rude to... rub it in like that.” She tried to say, her voice getting lower by the time she finished.
They walked a little bit further down the hall before Gray replied.
“In my previous school,” He started up, catching Jeanne’s attention again. “There were these two girls that I lost fights to. Both of them were pretty strong. And fast, too. Each fight was pretty tough, but I was never made to feel like I should be ashamed for losing to them afterward. Not from them, and not from my classmates.”
Jeanne looked down, having been caught thinking about exactly that.
“So, if you're worried that this has somehow bruised my ego, don’t be.” Jeanne looked up slightly when Gray said that. “And besides, that was a very tough fight. I wasn’t really expecting to be pushed that much.”
“You were tough too!” Jeanne rushed to get out, only to slow herself down immediately after. “I mean... the way you fight is so... so...”
She seemed to have trouble finding the right words to describe her experience with his style of fighting.
“Frustrating? Aggravating?” Gray offered, smiling her way. “A pain in the ass?”
Jeanne giggled. The tension she had been feeling after the fight seemed to leave her.
“I was thinking more like challenging, but that works too.”
Gray chuckled. “Your shield threw me for a loop too. I was not expecting your scabbard to change like that.”
“Hehe, yeah it's kind of meant to be a surprise.” Jeanne admitted. Her awkwardness from earlier had disappeared completely now, replaced by genuine enjoyment for the subject of their conversation. “But really, you were so agile, and you hit me in places I wasn’t expecting. I’ve never been stunned so many times. I can kind of still feel my elbows stinging.”
That was unlikely, considering how much Aura she had, but Gray still felt flattered by her words.
“Yeah, that style is all about distracting the opponent with pain, without necessarily harming them. Very much a pacifist type of thing, but very annoying for the enemy.”
The two of them talked more about fighting, and commenting on each other's weapons and skills. Even with the lunch hour ticking away, it didn’t seem to matter as they took their time walking. Until Gray said something to once again change the mood.
“It’s a shame though.” He said with a dramatic sigh. Jeanne looked over to him curiously. “Looks like I’m really not getting that date. A loss is a loss.”
A spluttering noise came from Jeanne and she stopped in her tracks. Gray also stopped and turned to look at her. Her eyes were blinking at an erratic pace, her lips tried forming a sentence and failed, while a blush crept up her cheeks.
Jeanne had trouble meeting Gray’s eyes. She swallowed some saliva and tried to speak again.
“W–Were you... were you being s–serious?” She asked, her voice sounding a little jittery. “...about that date?”
“Yep.” Gray said simply, looking directly into her eyes. Eyes that had trouble staying in place.
Her blush intensified as she looked down, bringing her hands together and fiddling with her fingers.
“I... b–but... I don’t... why... m–me?” She mumbled incoherently. Her eyes kept looking back and forth and occasionally flicked to him.
Gray took a small step towards her, a sense of confidence filling him, in no small part due to all the things he had accomplished with his Semblance. He was able to stand here and talk about something he would have had trouble with a week ago.
“Jeanne.” He said calmly, yet firmly. Jeanne looked up, trying to keep her eyes on his face but failing. She would look from his eyes to his nose to his cheeks and down to his neck, darting around, unable to keep eye contact. “You might not know this, considering your sisters always scared off all the boys, but you are really pretty.”
Her eyes went wide and latched onto his. Her fiddling hands clenched, and her blush reached her ears. The constant rise in her embarrassment was almost amusing for Gray, but he kept his face clear of anything but sincerity.
“And you’re fun to talk to.” He continued. Her eyes didn’t seem to leave his face now. “When we first met only two days ago, it felt like meeting up with an old friend. We got along so easily that I felt relieved to have a friend so soon, before even starting school.”
All of that was true. Talking to girls always felt a little complicated. There was always this sense that they constantly judged any boys that approached them. Or even when they didn’t approach, there was always this feeling at the back of Gray’s mind that told him to act in certain ways when around girls. All to avoid being seen as gross or weird or creepy. It made interactions with girls feel... tiring.
Jeanne didn’t give off that feeling. Even with his Semblance Gray felt that Jeanne’s behavior was genuine. Two days ago, on the airship the two of them hit it off like fast friends. He didn’t even use his Semblance on her. It was just... comfortable.
“I... I felt... I felt that way... too.” Gray heard Jeanne say quietly. Her clasped hands had lowered and she was looking down again. Her voice was a small sound as she made that concession. Her blush had abated, but the heat in her cheeks was a constant.
Gray felt happy hearing her say that.
“So, with all of that, of course I wanted to go on a date with you.” Gray told her. Jeanne lifted her head a little and Gray could practically see the hope in her posture. Her eyes looked up at him in that cute way that girls do. Gray had to look away for a moment because it was too cute. He also decided to tease her a little. “But... well, I did lose the fight. So, I guess that’s not happening.”
Gray finished abruptly, causing Jeanne to once more sputter in surprise.
“Wha–What...?”
Gray put on a fake sad face to really sell how bummed he was. He also stepped back and slightly away, scratching the back of his neck. For good measure he even sighed.
“... uh... wa–wait...” Jeanne uttered in confusion and a little bit of panic. One of her hands reached out slightly towards him but she stopped herself.
“Although...” Gray said, making her pause in her small panic attack. “Perhaps I could ask for a small consolation prize.” He finished, while scratching his cheek.
Jeanne didn’t seem to know what he meant and tilted her head a little in question. “Consolation prize?”
Gray turned back to her fully and asked, “Would you go out with me, Jeanne?”
Jeanne stiffened. Her blush returned in full **** and she stared back, trying to fully process the question.
Gray waited while watching her face, noticing small details about her eyes and nose and lips. She really was very pretty. Plus, he had already seen her naked body and loved every bit of it. But her face seemed to draw him in. Her lips looked like a nice and soft pink without any lip gloss, and her eyes were a pretty deep blue.
As he was getting his fill of memorizing her face, Jeanne’s embarrassment came to the fore and she ducked her head down and brought her hands up to cover her mouth. She looked to the side and a trembling voice escaped her.
“...isn’t that... a step up from a–a date?”
“Yeah.” Gray said, taking a step closer. His head was close to her hers now. He was in her space but she didn’t back away.
“Is... is that really... a consolation prize?” There was a pervasive shakiness in her voice.
“Jeanne,” Gray spoke again, making her flick her eyes to him again. And once again they flitted away. “Will you go out with me?”
He said it calmly and patiently, completely ignoring her question. He could tell that she was stalling anyway.
She was trying to hide her face some more and it was almost imperceptible, but she nodded.
“What was that?” Gray asked, although he already knew the answer. He just wanted to see if he could make her say it.
She stayed quiet. She looked at him sideways for a moment. Her feelings were ironically on display despite her trying to hide them.
“...yes.”
Gray couldn’t help but break out into a big grin.
“For a moment, I thought you were going to say no.” Gray sighed in relief. That feeling was real. Despite all the things he had done with his Semblance and the various commands he had made, there was a real fear in the back of his mind that she might have said no. And now he couldn’t stop smiling.
With a hand on his chest, Gray tried to calm down.
Jeanne for her part still looked embarrassed, but one look at her smile told Gray the whole story. She was feeling happy too. Though, she still had trouble looking at him.
A moment passed by with all the nervous energy petering out between them. Two students walked by before anything else was said. Then a weird growling noise could be heard.
Gray and Jeanne looked at each other. Gray looked down at her stomach. A smaller growl wined out from that direction.
Another small silence passed by between them before Jeanne burst into action.
“Look at that, lunch is almost finished! Guess we’d better hurry up, right? Hehe he.” Jeanne chattered as she passed Gray. All her embarrassment gushed out in her rushed words. “Our teams are probably worrying about us too. Don’t want them to come looking for us, right?”
Gray just grinned and tried to catch up.
They entered the lunch hall and scanned for their team mates. There was about fifteen to twenty minutes left of the lunch break and Gray really did need some food. The fight and the thigh sex really had his muscles feeling like lead.
Jeanne was still a little on edge, but he noticed that she was still smiling more while looking around for Team Juniper. Gray looked around and caught sight of his red, white, black and blonde team sitting close to Jeanne’s team.
“There.” He told his new girlfriend while pointing.
He started walking in their direction and nonchalantly grabbed Jeanne’s hand, pulling her along like a real couple.
“Dah?!” Was the next weird noise to come out of her mouth.
Gray looked back and smiled at her. She blushed again but allowed herself to be pulled along.
When they got close to the table that Teams RWBY and JNPR were sitting at, their team members finally noticed them. Yang called out first while Nora waved.
“Hey, we saved you some food! So, get your asses over–” Yang was yelling before something cut her off. “Oh?”
Nora was the next to notice something different. Her eyes lit up.
“Ooooooooooooh! You get it girl!” The hyperactive ginger yelled.
Other students had turned to look. Some hadn’t been there for the fight, so didn’t know what was happening. Others seemed to recognize the couple from the fight and a few even cheered or wolf-whistled.
“Nora, please?” A constantly embarrassed Jeanne tried to rebuke her team mate.
For Gray’s part, he was trying to gauge all seven girls’ reactions to the sight of him holding Jeanne’s hand. Yang was smirking, and no doubt thinking about ways to tease them. Nora was over the moon, obviously. Ren was smiling pleasantly at her team leader and Pyrrha was giggling behind a hand with what looked like genuine happiness for her friend.
Weiss had an almost impassive arched eyebrow. Blake seemed interested in the development but was otherwise unreadable. Lastly, Ruby looked on with open curiosity.
It didn’t look as if there was any jealousy to be found here. If there had been, then Gray would have expected it from Yang or Ruby, considering how intimate he had been with both of them, one sexually and the other more with kindness and sleeping in the same bed.
No, it looked like his Semblance commands worked.
Which means that Gray could definitely go ahead and romance them all.
The thought had his dick reacting but Gray stomped down on that feeling immediately.
“Well, hurry up you lovebirds and sit down. We got food for you.” Yang insisted, opening up a space between her and Ruby big enough for the two of them.
Once seated, and with food now in front of them, their teams launched into interrogation mode. Questions were being flung at them from all sides and Jeanne got the brunt of it. Her embarrassment seemed to be never-ending today. Some questions were levied at Gray, but for the most part he just sat there and smirked at them while eating his food. They glowered at him but got the message. Jeanne was to be the stuttering spokesperson for the eventful afternoon.
