Dag's Birthday Surprise-Freaks of Nature(2015)

Petra was worried. Dag's birthday was tomorrow and she wanted to get him something truly special. The former social outcast turned hot vampire chick wanted to give her werewolf boyfriend a truly memorable gift. In the 18 months since the alien attack on the town of Dillford, Ohio; things had gotten better for the townsfolk. The people of the town were no longer so divided, the mutual threat of the angry alien invader unifying them somewhat. Plus, Dag's friend Ned and the other zombies had gotten a boon from some government scientists. A special drug allowed them to fully suppress the hunger for human flesh, so no more ghetto or collars, plus it mostly restored them to a human form, no more decay or lurching gait.

"Plus, now all of them can talk normally again", she thought. Previously, only a few zombies retained coherent speech, the rest reduced to a groaning type of speak only other zombies could really understand. True, Ned could make himself understood, either through gestures or almost painfully slow human speech. Now, he could talk like normal and hell he even had a girlfriend, Heather. Some zombies did not handle their transformation well, and the beautiful Heather had been textbook case of that.

A gorgeous blonde and blue-eyed young woman, the genius level IQ toting girl had lost her whole family, her looks, and her ability to communicate during the initial zombie outbreak. The brainy blonde had lost the will to interact with anyone and had let herself physically decay. Ned had shown her kindness and got her to start taking better care of herself. Then, the government came with the wonder drug and her life, well unlife improved immensely. The drug not only arrested a zombie's physical decay, but it also reversed it. So, the hollow cheeked with a grayish pallor zombie girl, whose stringy sparce blonde hair and visible signs of rot on her nose, forehead, and cheekbones had should her undead state like a neon sign had been restored to her former appearance, although a bit paler and still cool to the touch.

"Now, the jocks who used to beat and torment Ned look at him with envy", she mused. Plus, Ned's zombie father and brother had turned over new leaves. Chaz, his brother was out of his neck brace and back to being a star athlete, since the team did not have to worry about him eating the other players. Plus, he was nicer especially to Ned. Senior was more understanding and supportive of his youngest son's academic gifts and was working to try to restore Ned's collage fund, after he had squandered it. Like her and Dag, Ned had graduated high school and had decided to take some time and figure the next move. She and Dag had been looking at either a vocational training program or getting jobs in town, at least to start

"Plus, Ned has to find a college or university that will accept zombified students", she thought to herself. Suddenly, Petra's thoughts were brought back to the here and now, when her phone started ringing. She checked and was surprised by the caller's name. Lorelei

"What does she want?" Petra said aloud. Once, the hottest human girl at school, now the hottest vampire girl, Lorelei was a source of concern for Petra. One hand, she was still worried Lorelei held a grudge for Petra killing and turned her, even if she claimed she didn't mind. On the other, Lorelei kept hovering around Dag and her, inviting them to her house or offered to help with this or that. Petra was worried that Lorelei saw Dag as a prize to steal away from her or a conquest denied.

Petra decided to answer the call and find out what Lorelei wanted to talk to her about.

"Hello Lorelei, what is it you want?", she said, answering the call.
