Currency

While many races and species may have their own internal economics and currencies, if not fully adopting UGC standards, the most common currency to find is the UGC Credit (Cd). Places outside of UGC space may not accept Credits, and it may also be a common practice in some colonies to not accept it either, preferring their species's natural economic practices.

Credits can come into two forms. One form is that of hardware currency slates. These slates are color coded depending on how many credits they contain and typically go in increments of hundreds and then thousands, stopping at five thousand. Only UGC banks handle Credits that go into the millions and so forth. The second form is representative digits that appear on personal "Credit Housing via Interface Technology", or CHIT. By either visiting a bank physically or virtually, or peer-to-peer exchange, one can use a CHIT to house their Credits if they don't feel like carrying around slates. The downside is that CHITs are easibly traceable while slates are not.

Color value of slates:

Purple = 100 Cd
Indigo = 200 Cd
Blue = 300 Cd
Cyan = 400 Cd
Turquise = 500 Cd
Green = 600 Cd
Lime = 700 Cd
Yellow = 800 Cd
Orange = 900 Cd
Red = 1000 Cd
Pink = 2000 Cd
Grey = 3000 Cd
Clear = 4000 Cd
Gold = 5000 Cd

Comparisons for reference to real-life currency:

2 Cd = 1 USD = .89 EUR = 1.32 AUD = .78 GBP = 1.33 CAD = 6.66 DKK = 1.72 DEM = 111.28 JPY = 8.53 NOK = 1134.90 KRW = 8.74 SEK = other such equivalences

End of current data.
