Cupid's Arrows

Eros chuckled to himself. He lied about all those other new products he made just to get Aphrodite off of his back. Now that he was given free reign on the mortal world again, he was looking forward using his beloved bow and arrow again.

Eros' bow and arrows were both made of the finest sugar maple wood: a wood that, once blessed, incited feelings of sweet sickliness like a lovesick teenager. The fletching of the arrows were made with feathers plucked from a Pegasus, giving accuracy to the flight. The arrowheads were carved and sharpened gems of ruby, which caused feelings of love and desire. They were difficult to obtain and carve, but were perfect for Eros' intention. Eros' bow was lined with the heartstring of a Nemean Lion, an unbreakable thread that allowed him to pull his arrows and shoot with such ****.

Cupid's arrows worked in such a way that mortals didn't quite understand. While they did cause absolute adoration for the first person the target saw, the arrow could only be shot through the back. When the target gets close enough and embraces their love, the arrow shoots through, piercing both hearts and locking both parties in a sense of true love with one another.

Eros packed the last of his arrows and grabbed his bow. Floating down to Earth, he thought about who his first targets should be.
