“What the hell does that mean?” Emma queried, allowing you to speak once again. You explained the usual process that you were familiar with and how it had worked so far. You realised how little you had tested some of the KDK features now that you had to actually explain them to someone. Emma asked questions regarding what counted as ‘rest’, whether that be a 20-minute nap or a full 8 hours sleep but neither you nor the KDK provided the details she wanted.

“Your testing for this has sucked so far you know” Emma teased.

“Well what do you expect, I have had it for barely 2 days and I’ve already failed in keeping it a secret. You're more than welcome to test it on yourself if you want.” you replied, giving Emma the offer that you expected her to refuse. You let Emma view the new information before agreeing to activate the level up. At this point, you knew there wasn’t any point arguing over this. Emma seemed set in her ways and even if you didn't press it, the effect would still take place but just one day later. As soon as you hit the button, Emma let out a small groan before closing her eyes and pinching the bridge of her nose. You could tell she could feel something but the reaction she gave was much more subdued compared to earlier. You sat next to her for a few minutes letting her lean against your shoulder as the effect ran its course.

Eventually, she opened her eyes and looked at you with a small frown on her face.

“I don't feel any different but I know something happened. That headache came on way too suddenly for that to be a coincidence” she said, seemingly expecting something more noticeable to happen.
