So, the question is: Put them on, or Cross Bare Foot?
Cross Bare Foot
You're sick of doing what they intend for you to do. Those socks would probably turn into heavy shackles or something anyway. Besides, the goo isn't that deep, so it may take some time, but you should be able to cross it. That's what you tell yourself, as you take the first step into the Pool of Goo.
One step, two steps, three steps, you slog through the squishy goo. You walk and walk, not noticing that with every step you take, you go deeper and deeper, until you realize that you're knee deep into the goo. You try to go back, but you can't seem to turn around, or move backwards. Terrified, you have **** but to continue walking forward.
The more you walk, the deeper into the pool you go. First your legs are fully engulfed, then your hips, until eventually, you're up to your armpits in goo. Not daring to go further, but unable to go back, you decide to stay in place. Unfortunately, the goo had other plans, as after a moment, the once solid floor beneath you gives out, as unbenounced to you, you've been walking on solidified goo this entire time.
Before becoming completely submerged, you inhale and hold your nose shut, intending to hold your breath for as long as possible. Unfortunately for you, that becomes impossible when the goo around your torso begins to constrict you, forcing you to open your mouth to exhale. When you do, the goo takes the opportunity to enter your mouth. Within seconds, you feel the goo in your nose, and slithering down your gullet into your stomach and lungs, while simultaneously entering "through the back door", and meeting in the middle of your intestines.
The sensation is, shall we say, unpleasant, but it only lasts a few moments. With the goo entirely filling your body, you quickly pass out.
An unknown amount of time later, a Girlactic Grunt enters from a hidden side passage. The grunt holds what looks like a very large nylon hairnet, attached to a long rope on each corner, which they toss into the Pool of Purple Goo. They repeat the process several times, until eventually, they seem to get what they're looking for, as a gelatinous purple mound has been caught in the net.
Still in the net, the grunt takes the blob back from where they came from, closing the hidden door behind them. Once secure, they open the net, Releasing the blob. Once free of the net, the blob begins to move, and shift, until it begins to take the shape of a short humanoid, roughly the size and shape of a 9 year old human, or an adult with a certain height restricting condition.

"Wha?? Wh..where am I? What happened" The Humanoid gooy figure asks
The grunt smiles, and uses a walkie talkie to inform the person on the other end that "It works!"
"Wa..? What works?" The confused blobby person asks.
"Do you remember anything before being pulled out of the pool?" The grunt asks.
"THB"(The Humanoid Blob) takes a moment to think, making funny faces as they do, but eventually reply "N..No...I don't."
"Interesting." The grunt says, writing on a clipboard they got from the nearby table.
Once finished writing, they put the clipboard back down, and tells "THB" that they used to be a human, who was working with Team Girlactic on a project, but fell into what they explain to be “basically a large tank filled with goo that's intended to form Ditto”, though that's all they really know.
They also offer you a place among Team Girlactic, which you accept, not knowing anywhere else you could go or be accepted.
More time passes' and you become a fully integrated member of Team Girlactic. Over time, you learn more and more about your body, and it's powers, until eventually, you even learn to take on a fully human appearance, though you prefer your more ditto-like forms when in private.
You never did regain your memories of your old life, but that doesn't bother you. Your life as a Team Girlactic member is great, so why worry about old, lost memories, when there are new memories to make as you help rid the world of masculinity?
