Couples Therapy - Part 3

XAVIER (played by Louis Garrel): -I’m Xavier and this is my wife Monique. We are both from France and have been living here for five years.

CASALI: -How long have you been married?

MONIQUE (played by Léa Seydoux): -We got married three years ago, but we’ve been together for six years.

CASALI: -And what do you do for a living?

XAVIER: -We have a French bistro in Gràcia. That’s why we could only come here on a Monday. The rest of the week, we are always at the restaurant.

CASALI: -Mmm... I love French cuisine.

MONIQUE: -You should all come someday. Xavier is a great chef.

CASALI: -I certainly will. If you have a good onion soup, you have a costumer for life.

XAVIER: -We do!

MONIQUE: -But you should really try his cassoulet. I love it, and so do all the costumers.

CASALI: -Sounds great, count me in! Hahaha… So you two work together. That can be challenging sometimes…

MONIQUE: -We actually like it. When we moved to Barcelona, he worked in a restaurant and I was a barista in a coffee shop, and we often had different schedules that made it difficult for us to find time to do things as a couple. After we got married, we decided to open the bistro, partly because we wanted to have our own business, but also because we wanted to spend more time together.

CASALI: -Oh, lovely. And how are things going in your sex life?

XAVIER: -Well, that’s why we’re here… We have been experiencing some issues.

MONIQUE: -And it makes us both a bit sad. The thing is… we get on really well for everything else, but sometimes we argue because of sex. And it’s so frustrating. I mean, many couples argue all the time, but we’re not like that, even working together many hours a day, we always feel like we're a team. So it's such a pity that we have to argue for something like sex…

CASALI: -Well, as I said earlier, sex is not a trivial thing. It’s a very important aspect of a relationship. Hopefully, today we will find some ways to help you with that -Then, looking at the last couple-. What about you, guys?
