And what was the group doing?

Counting Coin and Checking Charms

Poisonhook pulled out the bags of coin, sorting through them to make sure that the goblins hadn't confused shiny rocks with actual money.

Once he'd removed a few pieces of tin and satisfied himself that the diminutive greenskins hadn't made any other mistakes, he put the coin purses away and picked up the other items - the parchment with the shifting colours and the plain ring. He sat down cross-legged, placing the items on his lap, and trailed a talon over each while chanting softly.

They were both magic, he could tell that much. The scroll was some kind of map, but the shifting colours seemed to be hiding the actual content. As for the ring, it did... something. All he could tell about it was that it would be a bad idea to put it on.

Still, he'd only used a spell for finding magic items, not for identifying them. Someone with skill in unpacking the intricacies of magic might be able to work out what they actually did, so he put them away next to the coins and jumped down from the wagon.

What are other people doing with the liberated caravan?
