Conversations with not so dead people

"Well, in all fairness," said Kennedy, "it's not just you, Ms. Calenda -- Ow! Willow! You kicked me!"

"What does that mean?" said the dark-haired woman who called herself Jenny Calendar.

"It means that we all come from a world where you died, Ms. Calendar," said Buffy, still vainly attempting to cover her nipples in front of the growing crowd of people in the room. "I'm glad to see you're alive but under the circumstances, I hope you understand why we're all a little freaked out."

"I'm not," said Kennedy. "Ow! You kicked me again, Willow. Stop doing that."

"How exactly did I die in this world that you all come from?" asked Jenny.

"Natural causes," said Willow.

"Willow!" cried Buffy.

"Well, what am I supposed to say?" asked Willow.

"Well, for starters, you can kick Buffy the same way you've been kicking me," said Kennedy.

"Oh, shut up, Kennedy," said Buffy.

"Okay, whatever it is, you girls obviously think I'm better off not knowing," said Jenny. "Personally I think that's a shitty attitude but I can respect why you all might think differently. After all, if I ever met up with someone whom I believed to be dead, I'd be more than a little freaked out myself."

"And yet you choose to hang out with Tara," said Kennedy. "Ow! What the hell, Willow?"

"What's Tara's got to do with anything?" asked Jenny.

"Yes, Kennedy," said Tara. "Why the sudden need to bring me into the conversation? Are you jealous because in some of the worlds Jenny and I visited, Willow and I used to date?"

"Not exactly," said Kennedy. "You see -- Ow! You did it again, Willow! Why not cast another tabula rasa spell if you're so concerned about Tara finding out about something?"

"What are you afraid I'll find out, Willow?" asked Tara. "And what's a tabula rasa spell?"

"It's a spell that blanks out memories," said Kennedy. "Willow said she once cast one when you threatened to leave her over her addiction to magic. Only things went wrong with the spell and you ended up leaving her anyway when you found out about the spell."

"Wow!" said Tara. "And here I thought there was a lot of melodrama in the world me and Jenny come from."

"That's not all," said Kennedy. "After that -- Ow! Seriously, Willow? You have to kick me yet again?"

"I just realized something," said Buffy. "Not once have Tara or Ms. Calendar asked me why I'm naked."

"Why should we do that?" asked Jenny. "In the world where we come from, you've always been naked."
