What idea could the devil possibly suggest?
Contract with the enemy
The devil opened the door for us. Sam’s bedroom was quite spacious, maybe even taking the space of two regular rooms from a place like the apartment Bi now shared with me and the girls. Near the entrance, there was a study area, with a sturdy wooden desk, on top of which I could see a laptop, a lampshade, a few notebooks and some writing supplies. Further into the room, her bed took its considerable space near the window, with a purple comforter covering its fluffy pillows and expansive nightstands flanking it on each side. In between these two distinctive areas, I could see two doors on the walls, each leading to a different room. One a bathroom, and the other a deep clothing closet. Both of which I was fairly certain were bigger than the bedroom I now shared with Aly.
The devil barely had the time to close the door behind us before we both started demanding answers.
“Ok, start talking you fucker.” Sam had that insult ready from the bottom of her heart. “Why are you really here and how do I get both you and this other fucker out of my house?”
“Like I said,” the devil responded, smiling at us. “I have an idea that may be mutually beneficial for all of us.”
“Hang on, screw that!” It was my turn to chime in. “What is up with Bi being able to be recruited by multiple contract holders at the same time?”
“Yeah, I’m gonna have to apologize to you two for that.” The devil raised his arms in a mock gesture of defeat. “I worked on many wishes throughout my spree, created many synchronicity systems so they could be fulfilled instantly and with the best of my ability, everytime. It didn’t even cross my mind that some of those systems would intertwine.”
“Well, then are you going to fix it?” I asked, impatiently. “I’d like to be done with this and bring Bi home.”
“Yes,” Sam was equally irritated, “fix this so she can stay with me. And this loser can go back to treating women like objects”
“I already told you that I had her fir—”
“That you have a fifth grade reasoning for finders keepers bulshit and—”
“Stop it, you two!” The devil didn’t have to yell for his voice to carry across the room. “Both of you already know my main objective is to acquire as much sin as I possibly can in a short-ish time. And going back on my word, taking away one of your toys, isn’t going to serve me at all. Doesn’t matter from which of you it is.”
“Ok…” I began. “Can’t you just give Sam a new woman to be with? Bi has only been here for a little over an hour, I’m sure you can find a good substitute for her.”
“Well, clustercuck, my wish to bring her here was very specific. And she already proved to be amazing in bed with my harem anyway. Why don’t you find someone else to be with?”
The devil clapped his hands twice, the sound echoed through the room. “The answer to that is very simple. Either of you can instantly call a substitute that’s going to be just as good as the previous thing. The true issue here is that neither of you actually want to give up what you have. And, like I said, I don’t really care to solve that specific conflict. I brought a solution of my own.”
“And what would that be?” Sam asked.
The devil put a hand inside his left breast pocket and took out an almost blank page of A4 paper, save for very few words printed near the top. He then reached into his other breast pocket and took out something that looked like a grey plastic bracelet, with a simple metal clasp. He placed both items on Sam’s desk and gestured for us to inspect them. “I bring you a change in perspective.”
I examined the bracelet more closely. It seems I had originally misjudged it, it was wider than I expected, it was actually some kind of necklace. The material on it was very smooth, both the plastic and the metal. It was very plain and unattractive, but functional and comfortable.
“What kind of crap is this?” Sam asked when examining the piece of paper. “Another contract? For someone’s property?”
‘Wait, what?” I immediately moved to take it and look at the writing on it. “Let me see that.”
“Only because you’re giving me that necklace for me to look at, right?” Sam answered with sarcasm. I didn’t care about it, I tossed her the grey necklace and she threw me the paper. “Good boy,” she quipped.
I grabbed the sheet the devil had given her, and sure enough, my suspicions proved true. The text was very minimal, and it was typed in simple Times New Roman 10 on this printer paper. It was very different from the other times I had seen it, but it was unmistakable: this was a Contract of Ownership.
“This is a Collar of Command, right? I know it when I see one.”
“That’s right!” The devil answered us both. “As you two may have guessed by now, these are primitive versions of your wishes.” He gestured towards the objects in our hands. “They’re not as durable or permanent as the ones on the people downstairs, but they will do for the moment.”
“What exactly is your plan here?” I asked.
“I already told you: to bring you two some perspective. Both of you seem very unwilling to see another’s perspective in this situation, so I thought I’d lend you a hand. Or a collar and a contract.” He chuckled to himself. “At least, you can’t agree on each other’s perspective. So I brought a third: poor little Bianca’s.”
“What are you even talking about? Make some damn sense.” Sam demanded. For the second time tonight, I found myself agreeing with her. Against my will and better judgment.
“Let me try this another way,” the devil placated her. “If you can’t agree on why each other should have Bianca, maybe you can agree on why she would want to stay with each of you.”
“What…?” I was incredulous.
“...the fuck?!” Sam was furious.
“It is not permanent, cool your horses.” He tried halfheartedly to appease us. “And it’s not as intense as the effects on the people downstairs.” Then, he grinned with that distinctive devilish smile. “But it will feel better than any drug you’ve ever had.”
Both of us were speechless.
“Well, since I am not going to be interrupted anymore, let me explain how these babies will work.” He faced Sam. “You will sign the contract.” Then he faced me. “You will put on the collar. They will work for about 10 to 12 hours, then the effect will fade.”
“And why, in the living hell, would I ever sign a contract to belong to this guy?!” Sam gathered all of her strength to force the words out of her mouth.
“Ah, you see, there is not much worry to be had there.” The devil juxtaposed our combative energy with his calm voice. Like there was not a worry to be had at this moment. “That is because there are no strings attached. There are no permanent obligations here. You are just going to experience each other's wishes for a few hours, return to normal, and after that... well, if you still want to be at each other's throats, that's fine, I tried. But I hope to have some success here."
“And how am I going to trust that she is going to sign her name? Or sign at all?” I interjected, still shocked. “She could put any random scribble there and the contract would be void. I could be the only one under someone’s control.”
“There is nothing to worry about there either. Though this topic deserves a little bit more of an explanation, I’ll admit. I already tweaked these two wishes to be weaker and have a time limit, you already know that. I have simply also added yet another modification: they only work if activated together. Doesn’t have to be at the same time, but in a short interval.”
I simply blinked. I could not believe what I was hearing.
“What makes you think we would ever consider doing any of that? Like, at all?” Sam growled.
“Well, there are a couple of reasons, actually. First of all, this is a more elegant solution to your squabbles than damaging either of your harems and cutting Bianca out of either of your lives. Second reason, both of you know I seek to create as much sin as possible, and screwing over your harems seems like a very poor way of doing that. Instead, I’m offering you even more lust and the possibility of sharing your desires. Lastly, and this is something maybe one of you has already guessed: you two are eligible to be claimed by the other’s contract.”
Sam and I gave each other a look of disgust.
“What? It’s true!” The devil continued. “I mean, not anymore, because you both are under the protection of having signed a contract with me, but you can’t say you haven’t noticed you are each other’s type.”
We were, once again, at a loss for words. After what felt like minutes, I managed enough strength of mind to muster a question.
“So… Miss S&M here likes to be dominated?”
“Shut the fuck up! No, I don’t!”
The devil raised an eyebrow at her.
“On occasion. Shut the fuck up!” Sam yelled behind a heavy blush. “You know what this means for you too, right?”
I smiled at her, perhaps a little bit too smug with this situation. “No, what?”
“That you would be completely smitten with me if we had met under different circumstances.”
“What?! No I wouldn’t!” I couldn’t help but look away.
The devil gave me a pitying look.
I looked back to Sam so I could respond. But she was already prepared, she shot me a seductive smile and a sultry wink. I was blushing even harder than her.
“Oh yeah, this was so worth it! His face is fucking priceless.” Sam laughed. My only concern at that moment was how to drop dead and buried so I could escape this hell.
“Kids, this has been fun,” the devil called our attention, “but I have other messes to clean up, other people to visit, more sins to offer. Am I to understand you are taking my deal?”
I looked at Sam, she looked at me. Both of our cheeks were flushed. We couldn’t deny our hearts were beating faster. And like it or not, we were just laughing together. At the expense of each other, sure… but she was still smiling. I smiled back.
"Maybe... we could give it a try?" I said
"Sure, why not?" Sam tussled her hair off of her face. "What's the worst that could happen?"
"Great!" The devil cheered us on. "Feel free to start whenever you like, you should already know everything you need to get this particular ball rolling.”
I reached my hand to take the collar and noticed Sam's hands were shaky. My hands were sweaty. Both of us were still very much flushed. I put it around my neck, holding the clasps still, not connected yet. She bent over her table and grabbed a pen. Tip to paper, she signed her name. I closed the collar.
For a few seconds, nothing seemed to happen.
“I don’t think this wor…” My vision focused. Suddenly, Sam was no longer the target of my animosities, she was now the most perfect creature to walk on this Earth. I wanted to do nothing more than to offer her the love and devotion that she rightfully deserved. I ran to her, she ran to me. I wrapped her in my arms, planted my hands on her fine, toned ass, and began to kiss her the way she deserved to be kissed. She kissed me with equal fervor, moaning into my lips as she struggled to free me from my shirt.
"Well, this is it for me.” The devil was saying his goodbyes while the two of us were making barely coherent sounds. We were too busy worshiping each other to respond. “I'm gonna take a quick trip downstairs to make sure the normalization power of the contracts triggered correctly. After all, two contract holders were discussing their contents openly and in front of half a dozen people. And if, for some reason, they haven't all been totally affected by the normalization effects, I'll just alter their memories real quick. Anyway, toodaloo!”
