Continue the charade

Lauren hated to admit it, but continuing the charade sounded like the safer bet. If she told these people her real identity, her life would be over. She’d be behind bars at worst, and ridiculed for life at best! Not to mention that her reputation would be ruined if anyone she knew saw the reports of her being small enough to fit in a diaper designed for actual babies! Still, it was humiliating beyond belief.

“Thank you, Ms. Martha.” Lauren said in the most childish voice she could muster, her face turning pink.

“No problem at all, Honey!” Martha said happily, ruffling Lauren’s hair. “I’m going to go punch out now. Janet, can you keep an eye on her again?”

“Of course.” Janet said as she smiled with a nod, watching Martha run off to the break room to clock out. Still smiling, she turned to Lauren. “You know, I think you’re going to love her. She’s a really sweet woman. She’s even got a three year old niece she babysits at times that you can play and make friends with. She’s in California with her parents right now, though.”

I can hardly wait. Lauren thought to herself sarcastically, rolling her eyes. After about fifteen minutes, Lauren saw Martha come back to the lobby. When Lauren saw her in her civilian clothes, she almost had a heart attack. Martha may have been round, but she was definitely curvy in all the right places; especially up top! Whereas Lauren looked like an ironing board with two chocolate kisses, Martha looked like a field of watermelons.

“Are you ready to go, Sweetie?” Martha asked sweetly.

No. Lauren thought flatly. Outwardly, Lauren nodded as she took Martha by the hand. The two walked out to the parking lot and walked up to Martha’s red mini van.

Martha opened the back door for Lauren…revealing a car seat. Lauren paled, but before she could argue, Martha lifted the little woman up by her hips and placed her into the seat, strapping her in. Lauren found herself to be a tight squeeze, but she fit nonetheless. Martha then closed the door and slid into the driver’s seat, starting the engine and driving out of the parking lot.

Lauren sat there looking out the window at the setting sun, not believing she was in this situation. As she hung her head in shame, a thought popped into her head. Depending on where Martha lived, Lauren could probably “borrow” some of her clothes and make a run for her apartment if she was careful. She could even call for someone to pick her up. Then tomorrow she would give Jessie a piece of her mind!

Lauren was so lost in thought that she didn’t realize that Martha had stopped the car. Lauren looked up and gasped in shock at where she had arrived at.
