My ex wife had made it real hard for me to find you. She didn't bother bother sharing a picture of you or told me anything of how you looked like. I just hoped you'd have some resemblance to me or your mother that I could catch on. I knew the flight you were and as soon as it landed I started to look out at the arrival gate checking out every other young girl and making sure they saw the placard with your name on it. I didn't know if my ex wife had changed your last name so I left the placard with your name in bold and my first name a little smaller below it. Hopefully you'd notice your name first.

I didn't know anything about the way you were treated by your mother and to the most of my knowledge had agreed to myself that you were in good hands. As more people started coming out through the gate I noticed a young not so tall girl pulling her suitcase behind her and wearing a floral dress. Something about her ears instantly caught my attention. You had long ears and blue eyes. The ears stood out and I used to look rubbing the back of your ears to make you smile. My heart pounded and I knew it was you. Smiling and waving I startes to call out to you "Ava ! Ava ! Over here! " Waving a bit more frantically the placard almost illegible from the way I swung it around, I watched as you walked closer and closer to me.

Countless questions were running all over my mind 'should I hug her, should I shake her hand, hoe do I even greet her. Will she be the same little girl I knew'. Taking a deep breath I call out to you once last time just as you were about to pass me "Ava ! Daddy's here !"
