Chapter 3 by KnotholeFox KnotholeFox

Now, who are you?

Connor Kraft

Back in middle school, my parents would argue a lot. The stress made it difficult to make friends, but I didn't like most of my classmates anyway. When I noticed strange things happening to my body, I just assumed it was part of puberty or something. Eventually I realized the truth, but that didn't mean I could tell my parents. Even if I did, it wouldn't have kept them from splitting up. I ended up getting held back for a year in 8th grade, but it helped me bounce back and carve out a new niche for myself in highschool.

Now 18 years old with senior year on the horizon, I'm finally comfortable with who I am. The powers made it unfairly easy to get an athletic build, but I go to the gym frequently to keep up appearances. Of course I've been piling up energy for years now, but I don't really have a good use for it besides charging my phone, and I'm not even sure how much I really have. Whatever the case may be, I was thinking of coming out as a mutant to my mom. My mother, Kelly ****-Kraft, has always been respectful and tolerant, and I figured with Mother's Day coming up there's no better time.

Mom always tried to understand what I was going through, helping me however she could. Especially after Dad left, she was the "cool mom" who seemed young and relatable to my friends and I. It helped that she looked the part, perky and fit, she could pass for a college student despite graduating before I was born. I'll admit I've spent some shameful nights imagining what I'd do if we weren't related, but reality has it's limits.

Mom said I should try to meet new people at school, but it's not like I have different classes every week. My best bet would be a new transfer student or something, but who's going to change schools so close to graduation?

With two days left until Mother's Day weekend, I had no clue how to put it to her. "Hey mom, I'm a super freak and I've been hiding it for years" doesn't exactly leave the best impression. I figured a good night's sleep would bring a fresh perspective and settled on figuring it out at school.

What's next?
