Confusion (Kali POV)

Kali paced back and forth, muttering to herself. “Family protects each other. People protect those they care about. Ugh, why did I think it would be a good idea to meet him! All I can think of is his smile now. All I hear is him talking about happiness and safety. Ugh!”

Kali punches a wall with a flame wreathed fist, stone shattering with the impact. With a angry yell, she spins and hurls flame across the room, a mirror shattering and melting immediately. The demon girl pants slightly, sweat sheening on her blue skin. Alone in the room, she is barely clad in a black leather bra and black hot pants that can hardly contain her voluptuous form. Since her meeting she had been variously angry, sad and horny, with little relief from any of them. In the past couple days her plans had varied wildly.

First, she had decided to attack and just take his whole ‘family’ prisoner, and just get what she wanted by ****. The problem was, what did she want? Even giving her father what she said she would wasn’t sure to give her satisfaction. More likely, she would be shoved aside and ridiculed as a half-breed again.

Her next thought was to try seduction. Get this young mage to desire her enough to give her anything she wants. Except, he surrounded himself with beautiful, willing, and eager women already. Kali wasn’t even sure if he would be interested at this point.

Another idea came unbidden to her, and for some reason it was unnervingly attractive to her. She could submit herself to him, giving up her old allegiances and joining his harem. This was a frighteningly attractive option. All of the girls around him seemed happy and content, and he treated them all with love and respect, things she desperately craved.

She had mere weeks left for the deadline her father had set. A fight seemed somehow the worst option, but it’s all Kali knew how to do. Everything she knew about absorption mages told her that his power growth was insane. And what’s worse, he seemed to have no ceiling to his potential. How was he not ruling this pathetic land already? Who could stop him?

Hell, if he was in the old world, he could already rule a small nation with little issue. Some places would happily accept a powerful magus as a leader without question. He could go far with proper coaching. But he seemed content with his little family, and they seemed happy with him.

“What did he say? Something about knowing where to find him? Maybe...maybe if I go myself, confront him...”

Kali nodded to herself, her confidence returning. Perhaps a confrontation in front of his girls would be productive. Threatening them would just make him mad, but if she implied she could make life easier rather than harder, maybe she could get some of them to convince him for her. Or at least not see her as an enemy.

She sighed. It’s not like she had many resources left beyond herself anyway. Ever since Dimitri dramatically failed, her forces had dwindled to basically nothing. The few hangers on were no use, essentially yes men, not even any use in bed.

That brought her thoughts full circle, and angrily Kali punched a nearby wardrobe, the wooden furniture splintering and smoldering as it tipped over. Sighing, she made her decision. She would confront him at his home. One way or another, that would resolve things.
