Valerie takes another deep breath, looking at the other three girls, then begins.

"I behaved very badly and I'm very sorry. I was very mean and I was a bully and I wish I could take it all back and make it like it never happened. Sondra, I'm sorry I got you involved in this. I've done that before and it was wrong then too. Tricia and Emily, I feel terrible about what I did, and I promise you that I will never try to bully you again. I don't have any excuses for what I did and if you never forgive me I don't blame you, but I really am sorry. I'm so very sorry." As she speaks her words come quicker and quicker and a tremor develops in her voice as if she is about to cry. "I was so bad, so very bad, and I feel terrible, just so terrible, and if there is anything I can do to make even a little bit of it up I will, and if you want to hurt me or punish me more you could. I've been so bad and I'm so sorry."

By the time she concludes her chin is wobbling as she fights for control and her tear filled eyes are seeking a response from the other three girls.
