Comments on Episode 7

I shall talk about the controversial, although it really should not be, element of this story when commenting on the next episode, but for now let me deal with other aspects. In conjunction with that I shall explain Rupert Eversage’s participation.

After their great success in “Middlemarch”, an opportunity presented itself when James McNeil and Natalie Farmer visited Ed Shearer on set towards the end of the first series. As recounted in my British journal

these 3 had played Harry, Hermione and Ron in the 2020s UK TV serialisation of “Harry Potter” and I had been incredibly lucky to cast them all in my previous venture. Jacqui and I had dinner with them and asked if the visitors would like to spend a few days filming in Italy the next year. It did not take much for them to agree especially once we had given Natalie some of her usual encouragement, which I hope she has under control. Her friends say she has, but … well it is not really my business. As only the two older males are named in this tale, I could not resist using ‘Hermione’.

After her brief cameo as ‘female servant’, this role was a perfect one for Jacqui and it did not harm her case that she knew James pretty well, although I never did hear the full details of his audition. In the second episode of this story Natalie’s character is fairly uncomplimentary about Jacqui’s character’s age and looks, so we just put her as a man hungry large breasted youngish cougar.

It is possible that gypsies were around at that time in Italy although there is little evidence, so we were not specific about Mama Fortuna’s origins. In the original she was some kind of old crazy wild woman who matched up young men with bored housewives rather than the cool operating pimp in our version. It is a shame we did not have time to include her daughter and her training methods in the story. Imagine Ed’s face, if we had cast Tabitha Gash in the role!

Just in case the viewers needed to see more of Ariana’s arse, and with me ticking off the days to our promised end of series reunion, I could not resist the scene at the end.
