Decameron XXX

During the making of ‘Middlemarch’ Jane Pearce, the commissioning editor of the BBC, called me to talk about an exciting opportunity.

“How do you feel about filming in Italy?”
“Great, I love working there.”
“Well I’ve had a rather interesting offer from RAI who have just shown ‘Pride and Prejudice’ and really liked the bawdy nature of the tale you told and see it as perfect for ‘The Decameron’. They are talking about a 2 or 3 season deal.”
“I don’t know. All the work’s done for you with Boccaccio because half the tales contain sex anyway. With the 2 British books we’ve had to it in, as it were.”

Jane smiled “Come on, filming in Italy April to June for a couple of years - you’d love it - and this is the kind of money they’re offering you.” She handed over a piece for paper, her idea of drama I guess. “And, if you turn over, this is the budget.”
“Holy cow!”
“You interested, now?”
“Yeah!”
“It’s really more akin, to what you were doing before. High class porn, but this time straight into European homes. The Germans are also funding it.”
“I’ll talk to Jacqui, but it’s only 3 months a year so I can’t see any problem. What kind of cast are we expecting and what about the language?”

“It’s going to be in Italian but because it’s ART; it means you can go much harder. We’re looking for a bit of shock value here maybe upping the ante at home. As for the cast … well we will be expecting pan-European but if you can fit in a couple of Hollywood actors, that would be great. There’s been a history of respected actors turning up in European art house porn, and some of them love the challenge of speaking another language.”
“Si, ho capito!”
