I know what you are thinking … how on earth were those baskets strong enough to take people’s weight but light enough for Jacqui and me to carry up full of food? It is called artistic license. He ends up by threatening those present that he and Gissipus will return from Rome and take her anyway. Terrified, they gave in and Sophronia leaves for Rome with Titus, while Gisippus chose to remain in his home city.

The situation deteriorates for the Athenian and he comes to Rome in search of his friend. However, when he sees Titus he finds himself ignored and penniless goes to sleep in a cave, where he witnessed a ****. As he craved ****, Gisippus confessed. Recognition dawned on the watching Titus, who counter claimed that he was the perpetrator of the crime. By this stage, the judge believed neither and conveniently the real criminal arrives to admit his guilt. The emperor Augustus moved by the story frees all three.

Gissipus is taken in by Titus and Sophronia and cleaned up. Gissipus than marries Titus’s much younger sister, Fulvia.
