Comfort and love

Author’s note; 100 chapters, now we’re getting somewhere!

When you arrive at home, you’re surprised to find Sam waiting in the parking lot. She smiles, and hugs you as you get out of your car.

“I figured it would be a nice surprise for me to be here!”

You squeeze her tightly. “I’m certainly not going to complain! You were coming over for dinner tonight anyway.”

Sam kisses you on the cheek. “Exactly! Now, let’s go inside, I want to see how Emi is holding up.”

You nod. “Me too. She said she was going to be okay, but…it’s been a lot.”

The two of you head into the apartment together, holding hands as you go. As usual, as soon as you open the door, Lili practically bowls you over as she leaps into your arms. Despite being used to it, you still get surprised by the naked harpy nearly tackling you. After an apparently appropriate amount of hugs and kisses, Lili gleefully leaps on Sam as well. The raven haired woman laughs, returning the affection in kind.

As the two of them are greeting each other, you head into the living room to find Emi. She was conspicuously absent from the greetings, and you see she’s sitting on the couch, idly watching the television. You sit down beside her and put your arm around her shoulders, and she leans against you with a sigh.

“You doing okay, Emi?”

She looks up at you and smiles, though it seems a bit ****. “I’m all right. It’ll take a few days before I’m myself again, though. The meeting…scared me.”

You hug her. “I understand. We’re all here for you.”

Emi quietly laughs. “So I hear. Sam came over?”

You nod. “I invited her for dinner.”

Emi smiles. “I’m glad. I like having her around.”

Just then, Sam walks in, plopping down on the couch beside Emi. Throwing her arms around her, Sam sighs. “Poor Emi. I’m sorry you had to go through that again.”

Emi smiles, clearly enjoying the double hug. “I’ll survive. Though not if you two squish me!”

The three of you laugh, just as Lili joins in, giggling as she wraps her winged arms around Emi as well. “Snuggle party, yes-yes! Squeeze happiness into the sad-sad cat!”

Sam laughs, and plants a kiss on Emi’s cheek. “I think that’s a great idea!”

You chuckle, shaking your head. “No ulterior motives there, I'm sure.”

Sam looks at you innocently. “Why, whatever do you mean? I’m a perfect little angel! I’d never do anything naughty…”

Emi yelps, then laughs. “You just grabbed my butt!”

Sam grins. “Whoops!”

Rolling your eyes again, you disentangle yourself from the pile. “Well, I guess it’s up to me to handle dinner. Pizza?”
