Collapse

Eyes bulging, Jessica's heart went rapid fire like a piece of machinery. Her legs gave out beneath her, and she collapsed softly to the floor.
Her vision blury, she almost didn't register the wolf-beast looking back at her, blood still dripping from its wet maw.

Jessica's mind was else where. What would she do? Her aunt was her whole world. Where would she stay? She already missed her aunt so sorely. Tears blurred her vision.

The beast lunged bringing her back to reality. Sharp pricks of teeth met her neck. Cold animal fear chased all thought from her mind. She was at the mercy of the beast. All tension left her form.
The beast sniffed. Once. Then twice. Then it released her. And it returned to the blood pool.

Jessica collapsed and shut her eyes, tears stinging the corner of her eyes as the soft lapping resumed as the beast drank her Aunt's lifeblood.
She wept herself, her aunt, the state of the world, her own weakness. Her weeping became sobs, ugly and loud.

She didn't even realize when the sun had arisen and the women cried beast pointing at her.
