Cold feet
Friday evening finally came and Aaron’s doorbell rang. It was the moment Aaron had been waiting for, he wanted to get this over with of course, not that he was excited to see the handsome officer once more. He certainly wasn’t enjoying catching the good doctor taking lingering looks when he’d pass by her station.
But he did want to make a good impression on Luke, for the sake of appearing friendly. At least that’s what he repeatedly told himself as he had dressed for his date, it was not his first date, or first date with a man at this point which was hard enough to accept, but it was the first date he had with a man where he had to choose his clothes. With Brad, it was a spur of the moment thing, with Ted it definitely was not his choice.
Aaron had spent all afternoon searching for just the right outfit with the aid of his daughter. “What exactly are you expecting to happen tonight, mom?”
Aaron laid out a red skirt on the bed next to a white halter top, refusing to look at Sarah, “Just a good night out with a nice friend.”
Sarah let the obvious lie hang in the air for a moment before speaking again, “Uh huh. You know those shoes won't go with that skirt right?”
“They’re fine.”
“Mom, you can’t wear flats with that skirt.” Sarah sighed and went into her mom’s closet and pulled out long black boots. Aaron had loved seeing his wife wear the boots, not only because of the extra amazon-like height it gave her from the heels but the way it made her ass pop he just knew he was getting sex that night. He knew it already would have the same effect on him. Part of him found the prospect of guaranteed sex tonight titilating, a part that he hated. Gay or not, he shouldn’t be this sex starved. He would have to figure that part out later, for tonight he decided he would dress a bit more conservatively so when the bell rang she wore a simple sleeveless blue top and ripped jeans and white wedge heels.
“Wow, Erin you wow...you look amazing.” Erin couldn’t lie, the look on Luke’s face did a great job boosting her ego.
“You don’t look half bad yourself.” And he didn’t, he wore dark blue jeans and a simple white t-shirt under his brown, wool-lined, leather bomber jacket. “How’s the shoulder?”
“I won’t be throwing a curveball any time soon but I can still escort a beautiful woman.” He smiled offering his elbow as proof and enticement to be escorted. Erin took his offered arm and immediately felt dwarfed by his large stature even in heels.
“I just love your jacket by the way.” Erin squeezed Luke’s arm tighter, enjoying the feel of the leather. “It reminds me of my grandpa’s old service jacket.
“Thanks, it actually was my grandfather’s, well my dad’s until about six years ago.”
“Oh, I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay.” Luke opened the passenger side door. Erin sat into the seat in a ladylike manner, unaware that she had given Luke a perfect view of her cleavage through her loose top. “I hope you don’t mind but I thought we might could change up the agenda just a little bit.” He said when he sat in the driver’s seat, closing the door behind him with a metallic groan.
“Last time I heard that I ended up with Sarah.” Luke’s eyebrows raised and Erin blushed. It was true though, and something his wife often loved to say whenever he had changed plans at the last minute. He would always tell her she shouldn’t have worn the black boots.
“Doubtful anything like that,” He laughed in an attempt to put her at ease, “I just thought maybe instead of some crowded and noisy restaurant where we’d have to try and talk over a bunch of people and the even louder jazz music, we could go somewhere quiet. I really would like to get to know you better, free from distractions.”
Erin swallowed hard, “I-I’d like that.”
Fifteen minutes later, Erin found herself seated on a large blanket in the park while Luke plated out food for them from an honest to god picnic basket. “So, is that your grandfather’s too?”
Luke laughed while pulling out a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, “No, I got this at a flea market. But, my grandparents took us camping at the end of every summer.”
“That’s sweet.”
“Yeah, we had lots of fun, plus I’m sure my parents loved having a quiet moment for once.” Luke chuckled.
“Don’t I know it, I love Sarah but when she was little her and her little friends drove me insane with how rowdy they could get. Not that I was any better when I was a kid.”
“I’m sure you were a perfect angel.” Luke handed a glass of wine to Erin as she thought about how she...he used to be.
“Yeah, so was lucifer.” She laughed only to let it die as she found herself lost in Luke’s eyes. ‘God he’s cute.’ she thought before forcing herself to nervously sip on the wine. “So what would you have done if I said no to the change of plans? What happens to all the food?” She laughed nervously.
“I would’ve found some monkeys to eat it, don’t worry.” he smirked, Erin wanted to ask what he meant but she couldn’t stop staring at his jaw, with the small trace of a five-o-clock shadow just appearing. She imagined kissing his lips and wondered how it would feel on her cheek when she shook herself mentally.
Sh-he shouldn’t be thinking that, no matter how ruggedly handsome he was. “H-hey, I was promised dinner and a movie. What happened to that?”
Luke smirked, before pressing a button on his phone. Suddenly a light shined overhead as a movie was projected onto the side of a distant building. A lion’s roar caused Erin to jump nearly straight into Luke’s lap. Luke pulled out a small wireless speaker from the basket and placed it on the blanket, “What do you think? I had a friend on the **** help me set it up.”
Erin smiled nervously, slowly letting go of his arm, “I’ll give you points for creativity.”
The pair sat on the blanket, enjoying as Duck Soup played on in the distance. Erin had never seen a Marx Brothers movie and found herself unable to contain her laughter at their vaudevillian antics. At some point she had taken off her heels, enjoying the freedom and the feel of grass between her toes while she leaned against Luke. The movie was coming to its inevitable conclusion when a large boom crashed overhead. Immediately the sky opened up and poured rain on the couple.
Luke threw his jacket over Erin and the pair hurried to the nearest shelter they could find. Unfortunately the closest shelter was the building upon which the movie was being projected and by the time they reached its protective awning Erin was thoroughly soaked. They huffed and puffed with adrenaline and cold until it turned to laughter. “Well,” Luke said, “I guess this is why people eat indoors.”
“Y-yeah.” Erin rubbed her arms underneath the warmth of the leather jacket and tried to calm herself. Her hair was soaked and dripping down her back while Luke’s white shirt was completely soaked and clung to every facet of his muscular chest. “W-we should probably g-get out of here.” She pulled the jacket tighter around her, shaking nervously.
“Are you okay?” He eyed her up and down before realizing she had run off without her shoes and she now stood on the freezing cold concrete. “Your shoes…I’ll go get them.” He turned to leave and she grabbed his muscular arm slick with rainwater.
“You’re sweet but I-I’m fine.” She shifted from one cold foot to the other trying to keep warm when suddenly Luke leaned down and kissed her softly. “Besides...they’re probably ruined now.” Erin felt her hand slipping to his chest. She wanted them. He should feel jealousy or envy but he didn’t. That’s not why he wanted them. Why she felt his other arm and unconsciously bit her lip.
Immediately Erin was pulled in closer to him, her hands gripping his back with hunger and need. When the kiss broke she stood motionless, unable or not wanting to release the feeling of their kiss, “Stay here.” Before she could reason what he meant he ran back into the downpour.
