Cliques.

There were several cliques at Damien’s school. Most of these were the same at every school: jocks, cheerleaders, preppies, goth, emo, nerds, losers, etc... At this school, however, there was one less common called The Angels. The Angels were the children of the criminal element in this city (which will remain nameless to protect the guilty). These kids ranged from nerds to jocks, cool kids to losers, but they all had that one common characteristic. They had seen too much at a young age.

While most of the kids at school worried about grades, who was dating who, sports and friends, the Angels we’re performing power plays against each other and against others in the school.

Damien was unique in his own way even from the Angels. His parents weren’t criminals so he technically didn’t belong, but he actually was in the the same gang as their parents.

One other difference between them? Damien was smarter, stronger, and meaner than any of them.

They didn’t stand a chance.
