Duke's next calls went as normal as it could given the new circumstances. Emerald sat close to him and they exchanged notes. Not notes on class, but notes on the situation.

Emerald doodled a thumbs-up.

"Duke, Emerald," Glynda said. "No exchanging notes."

Duke knew she wouldn't do anything, just trying to act like the normal stern teacher.
