Cid plays it off

Tarji smiled and pushed herself off the bed. However, her smile turned to embarrassment as she realized she was lacking most of her clothes. Her face turned a deep shade of red as she looked around for something to cover herself with. She grabbed the sheet of a nearby bed.

“I-I’m so sorry! I must have had something to drink and…” she trailed off as she held her head as she tried to recall what happened.

“It’s fine, don’t worry about it” Cid reassured her.

“Still, this is so embarrassing as a medic. I should go” she said as she hurried off to find some clothing to cover her body.

Cid watched her go, a bit guilty but also amused. This new power of his was interesting, allowing him to do things no man could. This could help him greatly in the war but also in life. Being able to swap bodies with whoever he could touch was something he could only dream of. He mustered the strength to sit up and tested out his body. There didn’t appear to be any side effects on him other than the headache he felt. Something he could live with.

The next day,, Clive and Jill came to visit him in the medical bay. Despite Cid’s reassurance that he felt better he was still bound to his bed. The two had remained vigilant as promised but were still worried about him. Cid considered telling Clive about his new powers, wanting to explain the new development in his failure to extract power. He halted himself in this endeavor, he still didn’t have a full understanding of his limits and the risks. Telling anyone about it now wouldn’t be helpful and only cause them to worry more.

As he abstained in relaying this info, Clive and Jill had something to report to him.

“We gathered intel on the hooded man. Jill and I are planning on pursuing him later” Clive began.

“You have? Just the two of you?” Cid asked.

“Yes, we’ll be fine together. We plan on bringing him back alive if possible for an interrogation” Jill added.

Cid could tell they were trying to convince him that they would include him somehow in the plan.

“That won’t be necessary, I rather you both make it back in one piece. I’d go with you myself but I hardly think a wheelchair could make it very far” he grunted.

Tarji had been kind enough to procure him a wheelchair to get around the hideout. It did allow him to leave the bed at least. The wheelchair wasn’t anything more than that, making it difficult for him to go outside the hideout. Cid could feel his arms at least getting a bit of a workout as he pushed himself around just to avoid laying in the med bay for too long.

“Yes, I don’t think you would be able to keep up with us on foot” Clive agreed.

“Tarji said you are doing better. It shouldn’t be long before you can rejoin us on missions” Jill assured him.

Cid nodded in agreement, wanting to at least curb the younger two’s worries about his bedside manners. After they had left, Gav was the next visitor for Cid. He walked in, giving Cid another look over as he did the first time he had visited.

“That bed is starting to look more comfortable. I envy you getting rest, I really do” he teased.

“Come closer and I can smack you around a bit so you can be bed ridden too” Cid remarked.

“Jokes aside, I bring you good news. Benedikta has awaken. Her vitals are stables so she should be good for an interrogation. I’ve already cleared it over with Tarji so we will begin shortly” Gav explained.

His news, piqued Cid’s interest. After all, he had wanted to interrogate her in the first place. Benedikta was the holder of Garuda, much like them. She was also high in the ranks of the enemy side. However, the woman was no pushover. Cid wanted to be there at the helm of the interrogation to ask her questions. The two of them were like water and fire, if anyone could get her to confess it was him.
