Chapter 9

Where does the hunter take Jessica?
Church Ward?
The hunter took Jessica's hand as if she were child. Guiding her through the streets, now foreign to her in location and danger. The steam emanating from the gutter wasn't just disgusting, it veiled beasts. Each unknown corner was a new nest of revolting fallen men. But trust blossomed in Jessica's chest, she had **** but to trust this hunter. If not just to satisfy her curiosity, but to be able to travel home ever again without fear.
Occasionally the hunter would signal with his hands that he was to leave her. The first time he placed a warm finger to her lips, Jessica suppressed an unbidden desire to suckle upon as he did so. And remained silent instead. Her hands unconsciously drawn to her womanhood as she nodded her assent and understanding of the instruction.
He quietly rounded the corner, cane held aloft as a blade. And then he disappeared from view. A few long moments passed. Jessica's eared strained. But she heard nothing. And he returned a few beats later.
Pressing a finger to his own lips he continued to guide her.
This repeated three more times. Each time he placed the finger on her lips, his hidden eyes revealing nothing beneath his large brim and collar.
On the third return, he came back with blood freshly scattered across his frame, but he seemed both unharmed and unscathed. himself.
Finally they came to a small cathedral. Humble and unfamiliar, Jessica felt another wave of confusion The hunter suddenly broke his silence. "Oh bloody hell, run girl, into the cathedral!" as he brought an arm behind her pushing Jessica forward, the blood on him pressing through her clothes.
A strange whooshing noise followed behind them, as they ran, down the steps, Jessica barely had time to notice the many graves before being pushed up the steps by the hunter.
Her eye took a moment to adjust, as breathless she took in her new surroundings. A tall ceiling, with a stairs leading to a raised floor. Dozens of urns burned incense here, and Jessica was struck by the strong scent, burning and overpowering any other scent in the air.
She heard the hunter behind her, hands on his knees breathing heavy "I didn't think that damn thing was still clinging to the building."
What is Jessica feeling?
