Choosing a club
If anyone could hear the yelling, smashing, and general chaotic noises coming from Erik’s bedroom at the moment, they would be excused in thinking that Erik was suffering from some sort of domestic dispute.
“ARGHHH FUCK HIM FUCK HIM!” Vi roars, shoving her face into the pillow and screaming. Erik looks over, putting his handheld console down, he turns on his side to face his distressed girlfriend.
“He texted again?”
She pulls her face out of the pillow, her hair covering her face, a subtle reference to the girl from the ring, “Yeah. Fucking — ‘oooooh join a club, no daughter of mine is going to be wasting her time partying oooh’ — WE DON’T EVEN GO TO THAT MANY FUCKING PARTIES! HE DOESN’T KNOW ME AT ALLL, AAAARRRRGGH!” Back she goes, face into the pillow, kicking her feet like a tantruming child in the middle of the mall.
Erik reaches out to caress her shoulder, bringing her closer she curls into the foetal position as she whines into his chest, “It’s just fucking misogynistic control! He’s such a fucking child!”
“I know, babe,” Erik soothes, stroking her head, “it’s like I said last time, he can feel that control slipping away, so he’s doing arbitrary shit.”
“It’s still so annoying…” She whines, muffled into her lovers chest, “Why me? Why couldn’t I have a normal family?”
Erik kisses the top of her head, stroking softly as she rides through her emotions. She eventually, does sit up, wiping at her eyes she grabs her phone, “Stupid, fucking club… so dumb… I just want to stay in the dorm, hang out with you and Ari… party, relax, so dumb…”
The couple go through her options, debate, mathletes, ufc, and photography club are all no go’s for Vi.
“If I have to join a club, I can at least enjoy it.”
The couple consider the finalists; cheer, dance, and gymnastics.
“Cheer?”
“Eh.” Vi responds, scrunching her nose as she thinks about it, “It’s not calling to me right now, maybe in a different life.”
A chill crosses the room.
“So, dance or gymnastics?”
“Hmmm.” She nods.
“Dance would probably mean dancing with a partner.” Erik says.
“Hmmm,” She turns, “Is that a good or bad thing.”
Erik grins.
“Dance it is.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah, fuck it. Maybe it’ll be fun.”
“Because of the dancing or the partner?” Erik asks with a teasing chuckle.
“Oh babe. The guys might be gay.”
Erik hadn’t considered that.
“Wait!” Erik chimes in, pointing at the collected flyers.
“What?” She asks, somewhat startled by his abruptness.
“Look a the cut off dates!”
Vi looks closer, her frown quickly morphs into a grin, “HAHAHA YES!!!”
The couple jump up and down, Vi climbing into his arms, if she’s going to have to join a club, it won’t be this semester, but next, since they’ve missed the sign up dates, by a full two weeks.
