Which way do I go?

Choice A: Take the path to the left, heading towards the thinning woods and the easier, unobstructed trail.

Chapter 2 by mci_2000

I weighed both carefully. In the end I decided to take the path to the left, the one where the woods thinned and the light grew stronger. I chose it because I still knew almost nothing of this world, and the thought of walking into deeper darkness with no memory of its dangers felt more dangerous than the risk of being seen. It was better for me to keep the sun on my skin and the ground clear beneath my boots, at least until I understood more of what waited out here.

The ground began to slope almost at once, a gentle downhill that pulled me forward through the thinning woods. Warm air moved more freely here. Tall bushes still brushed my outstretched fingers when I tested them, their leaves dry and whispering, but the canopy opened wider with every step. Sunlight pooled in bright patches on the earth. I kept walking, the sturdy boots steady beneath me, the soft skirt shifting against my thighs with each downhill stride. The bag hung at my hip, its weight a quiet reminder of the teal silk, the diamond necklace, and everything else I had already packed away.

The slope continued. Then, far across the open landscape, something massive rose.

At first it was only a dark line on the horizon. As I drew closer the line thickened, climbed, became a towering wall of scavenged metal, reinforced timber, and concrete slabs. Spikes of wood and rusted iron thrust outward from every surface like jagged teeth, angled to catch and tear anything that tried to climb. The entire barricade felt designed not merely to keep people out, but to punish the attempt. The closer I came, the more the wall seemed to lean over me, heavy and absolute.

I slowed. Caution settled into my muscles. I moved along the dangerous perimeter with careful steps, staying well clear of the outward-pointing spikes, watching for any movement along the top. The air grew quieter here, the ordinary forest sounds muted by the sheer presence of the structure. At last I reached the heavy gate—thick metal plates bolted together, scarred by old impacts, sealed tight.

I stopped a short distance away and called into the silence.

“Hello? Anyone in there?”

A harsh man’s voice answered at once from the shadows on the other side, raw with suspicion.

“We saw you walking toward us. How are you still alive?”

The question landed strangely. I had no context for the danger he assumed, no memory of whatever had made survival itself remarkable. The honesty rose before I could shape it into anything safer.

“I cannot remember anything. I woke up in the woods.”

Silence stretched for a few heartbeats. Then a large mechanical sound echoed—gears, chains, the heavy grind of metal on metal. The gate began to open. I stepped forward carefully. Beyond the threshold stood a short man, a little shorter than I was, solidly built, his face lined and watchful. The moment I crossed fully inside, the space contracted. What I took for an entrance was only a confined holding cell of concrete and scrap metal. The gate slammed shut behind me with a final, metallic thud that vibrated through the soles of my boots.

He studied me without speaking for a long moment. His gaze was sharp, assessing, already measuring what I might be worth or what threat I might carry.

“Let’s start with a name,” he said.

The void in my memory ached. “I do not have one.”

He crossed his arms. “If you want to enter the wall you need two things. First is a name. So name yourself. Very few still have that luxury.”

I stood in the cold cell, the soft fabric of the clean shirt resting lightly against my skin, the skirt still whispering around my legs whenever I shifted my weight. The recent pleasure of the pool—the water, the sun, the two long climaxes that left my thighs weak—still hummed faintly beneath the surface of my body, a private warmth that felt almost out of place in this unyielding, suspicious place. I thought for a while, feeling the emptiness where my past identity should have been. Then I chose.

“My name is Maya.”

A slow, calculating smirk crossed his face. “Great, Maya. Now to enter the wall, you need a second thing.”

My muscles tensed beneath the clean clothes. “And what is that?”

“My approval.”

I held my ground, refusing to show the flicker of unease that moved through me. “And how do I get that?”

His eyes drifted over my body deliberately—lingering on the way the shirt settled over my breasts, the fall of the skirt against my hips and thighs, and the long line of my legs in the sturdy boots—before snapping back up to my face. The look was open, assessing, and unmistakably hungry.

“Well,” he said, voice flat but edged with something heavier, “you can start by providing me something valuable. Metal cap coins. Or…”

I pull the bag from my hip and open it, searching quickly. My fingers brush past the folded teal dress, the diamond necklace, and the soft, clean clothes until they close around the single earring. I draw it out and hold it up between us.

“Will this suffice?” I ask.

He looks at the small glittering thing, then at me, and smiles without warmth.

“Those shinies have no value here, my girl. Here only metal is valuable. Or food. Or old-world mechanicals. Or the pleasure services.”

“I do not understand.”

He leans a little closer, still on his side of the cold cell, and speaks more plainly.

“Let me put it clear. You can give me something made of metal—I’ll see if it’s valuable and let you pass. Or you can give me food from that bag—I’ll see if it suffices and let you pass if it does. An old-world mechanical will be fine as well, if you have any. And if you cannot provide any of those, a pleasure service. You can give me a blow job. I’ll let you pass and arrange a job for you as a scrapper in the garbage pit. You let me fuck you, I’ll give you a place to live as well, inside the wall, and a waiter job in the pub that will pay you three cap-coin wages on a daily basis.”

I hold his gaze. “There must be more options.”

He studies me a moment longer, then adds, almost casually, “Well, you are a chick girl so I’ll give you one more. Strip naked and let me grab those ass and tits for a while, and I’ll let you pass with an extra pair of clothes that might come handy.”

I stay still.

The cold of the cell presses against the soft fabric of my shirt and the thin material of the skirt. My body still carries the faint, private hum of the pool—the water, the sun, the two long climaxes that left my thighs weak and my cunt tender. His eyes have already traveled over me once; I can feel the weight of that look even while I think.

I turn the options over carefully inside the emptiness where memory should be.

The empty tin can is metal. It sits light in the bag, already opened and scraped clean. Will it be enough? Metal is metal, but an empty can might be judged too small, too common, and not worth the gate.

The unopened tin of beans is both metal and food. It could satisfy either requirement. Yet if I hand it over I will have nothing left to eat, and the world beyond this cell—or inside the wall—has already proven it does not offer meals freely. Hunger is a real and immediate weight.

The can opener is an old-world mechanical. Small, useful, the sort of thing that might hold value here. Giving it away would leave me without a way to open any future cans I might find.

Then the pleasure options.

I could strip. Stand naked in this cold cell and let his hands take what they want of my ass and breasts for a while. In return I would pass the gate and receive an extra pair of clothes. The cost is only time and the temporary use of my body. No deeper claim.

I could kneel and take him in my mouth. A blow job would buy passage and a job as a scrapper in the garbage pit—work, at least, a way to earn something. But the work itself sounds hard and dirty, and the payment is only the right to stay and labor.

Or I could let him fuck me. Full use of my body in exchange for a place to sleep inside the wall and a waiter job that pays three cap coins every day. Shelter and wages. Yet I have no idea what three cap coins are actually worth, how far they stretch, or whether the room would be safe and the work bearable. The price is higher, and the uncertainty even larger.

Each choice has its own consequences. Metal or food I can spare, or cannot spare. A temporary groping. A mouth. My whole body for a bed and daily coin. I stand in the silence of the cell, feeling the soft shift of fabric against still-sensitive skin, weighing them all while his eyes wait on me.

He watches my face, patient and expectant.

So what will it be?
