Chevalier and Templar Classifications

Winlay's thread has been getting deeper into both the Templar and Chevalier world so I thought I would clear some of that up.

First off are the templar:

Templar work in squads, twenty men groupings, and battalions, two hundred men groupings.

Templar ranks are simple going from, Recruit, Soldier, Captain, Major, Master Templar, and finally Grand Templar.

Recruits: These are the fresh young soldiers who work mostly in training grounds across Veertor and some of Cryn. They are not trusted to any important posts so they mostly are out of danger. Because these are still green recruits, they are usually not placed into squads until after at least a year of training.

Soldiers: This is the largest group of Templar. They serve functions from anything to foot soldier to military police, to prison guards. They are are the arms of the Templar. There are other breakdowns of this rank, but for now we will deal with the main body.

Captain: Captains are basically squad leaders. Usually two captains work together to run a squad. In times of war, one leads from the front while the other stays back, keeping an eye on the battlefield and sending reports to his partner. Should the field captian fall, the remaining one steps in. A Soldier from the same squad can be field promoted to Captain, but unless they perform well, the rank may not stay with them after the battle.

majors: A single major can be in charge of up to ten squads, with twenty Captains under him. This means that a single Major can control one battalion. Majors are proven tactitions and warriors. They rarely see front line combat, but when **** into battle, they fight with years of knowledge and experience at their disposal.

Master Templar: There are only ten Master Templar at one time and a new one can only be appointed when one of the old ones steps down, dies in combat, or is made Grand Templar. Master Templar are old warriors who have performed their duties with extrodinary skill and results. They are the most powerful of fighters and can lead as many as Five majors at one time. Master Templar often work alone, visiting outposts and going on peacekeeping assignments. When one does take up command of a unit, it is for a specific purpose.

Grand Templar: The Grand Templar is the leader of the Templar, reporting directly to the Oracle. This role is filled by one choosen from the Master Templar's ranks and is considered to be second to none in the Templar's ranks in both combat and strategy. It is not uncommon for the Grand Templar to be raised to Oracle over the High Priest if it is found that the Priest cannot perform his duties sufficiently. The currently Oracle was one such Grand Templar.

Now for the Chevalier:

The Chevalier do recognize the current Oracle and his position, but feel that the church has gone down a dark path. They have gone into exile until the day that they can restore the true path of the Church.

Chevalier work in small groups unless the situation calls for them to field an army. So far they have been in hiding and have not had to do so. It isn't uncommong for a single person or small group to act as a sleeper cell for years at a time before acting on their orders. Their rankings are simplified by their small numbers.

Apprentice: These are the new recruits of the Chevalier. Each apprentice is assigned to a Knight until they are versed enough in the ways of combat and strategy to handle the title of Knight themselves.

Knight: This is the main body of the Chevalier. They are the soldiers and fighters of their order. This group devides into Combat and Stealth Knights. The Combat Knights are the actual soldiers. They are good in stand-up fights, but like Stealth Knights, they have to learn the art of infiltration to act as sleeper cells. Adam is one such Knight. The Stealth Knights are the assassins the the order. They train in infiltration, spy networking, and ****. Mika is one of these knights.

Commander: These are the strategists and leaders of the Chevalier. Each commander can be in charge of several sleeper cells.

Grand Chevalier: Once on the same level as the Grand Templar, the Grand Chevalier is the true leader of the Chevalier.
