Check the Administration Building

?Angel One Actual,? Joanna spoke into her comms. ?Angel One One will search the admin building. Angel One Two and One Three will secure the LZ.?

?Copy that Angel One One Actual,? said Lt. Kim South, her platoon leader, over the comms. ?I want to know what?s going on here.?

With the orders given, the women of Angel Company instinctively executed their duties. The second and third squads of Joanna?s platoon established a perimeter around the landing pad and began clearing it of debris. Joanna meanwhile took personal command of first squad as they moved towards the administration building, M-83 Charge Rifles at the ready.

?Deploying Raven,? Trooper Kelly Arnold called out, tossing a metallic sphere upwards. The globe began flying under its own power once it was in the air and streaked towards the buildings in front of the troopers.

?Let?s see what we can see,? Joanna said as the Raven Scout Bot started streaming back images and video from it?s sensors. ?What the ... ??

With one look at her Heads Up Display Joanna knew there were going to be problems as static filled video and half formed images displayed before her eyes. ?Angel One Actual, the Raven Scout Bot is returning corrupted data. Possible malfunction, over.?

?That is a negative on the malfunction Angel One One Actual,? Lt. South replied over the communicator. ?Command platoon is picking up interference from your AO and it is affecting all sensors arrays scanning the planet.?

?Environmental?? Joanna asked.

?Partly,? South said. ?But an unknown planetside emanation doing most of the damage. Command is pinpointing the location of the emanation to fix the problem.?

?Orders?? Joanna inquired as she and her Angels reached the administration building entrance.

?Continue the search,? South answered. ?But be careful, I can?t guarantee we will get sensors and networking running smoothly anytime soon. Audio comms may be the only dependable link we have.?

?Copy that,? Joanna said. ?All right Angels! I want an inspection of this entire building. We?ll be half blind going in so stay frosty! Pay attention to the admin?s schematics on your HUD and switch to your eyeballs if you suspect your visor sensors are not properly functioning. Got me??

Multiple cries of ?Hoorah!? told Joanna her orders got through. The squad then split into three fire teams, with Joanna leading one team through the front doors as the other two teams went in through alternate entrances. The Angels then swept through the building from top to bottom, entering offices, scouring lounges and rec rooms, inspecting even the most innocuous closets and cupboards.

Again, all they found were shredded construction jumpsuits, ripped colony uniforms and discarded women?s underwear.

There was evidence that the colonists had put up a fierce fight before they were overwhelmed. Makeshift furniture barricades dotted many hallways and rooms. Tools, like miner?s grav-hammers and laser torches, were scattered among the barriers. A large number of the tools had gluey green liquid dripping from them.

?We may have an indigenous life form Angel One Actual,? Joanna said as she inspected a dripping grav-hammer. ?And its definitely hostile.?

?Sergeant,? a voice said on Joanna?s comms. ?We?ve entered the central administration office.?

?Good work Corporal Lopez,? Joanna said, double timing her way down a corridor. ?I want those security tapes called up. All call signs, converge on my location!?
