Chapter 16 by Shandy Shandy

What now?

Check out the complex, and get surprised

You look at the serious face of the young black athlete, knowing that she is wondering how much to trust in you.

"I don't have a lot of experience coaching, but I've got a lot of experience at being treated fairly and unfairly as a player," you say quietly. "If you ever have a problem with anything I say or do, come talk to me."

She looks at you steadily for several seconds, then nods. "Ok Coach. That's a deal." She sits down and takes her cleats off, thrusting her feet into some flip flops. "If there's nothing else, I've got to run. I'm meeting my girls for lunch."

"Have fun. Nice to meet you Dontai." you say, offering your hand. She takes it with a nod, her eyes still studying you.

"Nice to meet you too Coach," she says as she shoulders her bat and starts walking towards the main campus. You can't help but admire her toned legs and ass as she walks away from you, then flush with embarrassment as you rebuke yourself for your thoughts.

Putting her out of your mind, you go and find your office. It's about what you expected, a plain room with a large whiteboard on one wall, and some of last season's team schedules taped up. There's little in the desk or filing cabinets except some practice plans and several years worth of game scoresheets and lineup cards, and if you had to guess you'd say that Ms. Naylor seldom used the office when she was coaching.

Leaving the office you check the rest of the building, finding several small workout rooms and a well equipped weight room that doesn't look like it's seen much use. To your surprise there is also a racquetball court, with a booking sheet on a clipboard outside.

You decide to check the changing rooms, given that this may be your only opportunity to visit them once school starts. When you walk into the first one you find that's it is very well appointed, far better than anything you saw in college or minor league ball, and you shake your head again at how much money the school has.

Deciding to check the other changing room you forget to knock as you had at the first room, and just push the door open.

What you hear has you stop in surprise, holding the door half way open as you listen.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, give it to me! Give it to me!" a girl's excited voice cries over the distinct sounds of masculine grunting.

Check it out or listen longer?
