Chat with Ana

"Have you been a doctor for a long time?" you ask Ana, who stops what she's doing and looks at you.

"It's complicated," she says.

"Were you a doctor in a war or something?" you press, looking at her eye patch.

"Were you a nosy person in a war?" she asks you back, picking up her clipboard.

"I like your white coat. It looks good on you," you say. She's not... like the normal girls that you pick up. Usually you have good game for this, but here you feel out of your element.

"Thank you." She smiles at you. "Are you trying to flirt? Because I'm old enough to be your mother. In fact, my daughter is at this camp. Don't let me catch you trying this with her," Ana warns sternly.

The door bangs open, and two coaches bring in a girl on a stretcher. There's no blood or anything... you aren't sure what's wrong with her. It's the tiny French girl, Julieta. She's a brunette, and the smallest player at the whole camp. She doesn't speak any English, but your father has an apartment in Paris, and you learned some French to help pick up French girls. Just like you learned English in order to pick up English girls... and American girls now that you are in America.

"Sprain," the coach says. "Not sure how bad."

"OK," Ana says, but the coach's phone makes a text noise.

"Oh no," the coach says when she looks at it. "We have a kid down. You'd better come out to the field."

Ana looks annoyed. "I can't be in two places at once."

"I will stay," you volunteer. "I can put ice on a sprain."

"OK. Thank you," Ana says, following the coaches out. You are alone with the French girl.

"I'm OK," she says in French. She's sweaty, and blushing a little, maybe out of embarrassment, or maybe because you have that effect on girls that like girls.

She's too cute. She wasn't on your list of girls to get to know, but... she's right in front of you.

But she needs help.
