Character descriptions?

Most readers have probably noticed that unless the story calls for it, I tend to be rather vague on physical details about my characters. In almost all cases I have a mental image, but since my stories tend towards psychological manipulation rather than physical, I've intentionally omitted those details so you can picture whomever you'd like. If you'd like to see an athletic, tomboyish redhead with a beauty mark on her right cheek get phenomenal anesthesia, who am I to tell you she's actually a voluptuous, statuesque blonde with pouty lips?

That said, I understand some people probably prefer descriptions in their stories, so I'm asking for a bit of feedback. Here are the three options I can think of:

1) I continue to write the way I have been, sparse on physical details,

2) I add physical descriptions to the stories (I can go back through and edit early chapters to do this),

3) I add separate chapters detailing the characters' appearances for those who want them.
