Chapter 7: Journey into the Mist and meeting the Spirit Elder

As Jason slipped out of consciousness there was an unfamiliar voice saying “wake up boy, wake up boy, WAKE THE FUCK UP BOY!!!!!” Jason wakens to an area covered in a thick fog. “who the hell was cussing at me” he wonders out loud. “I did child, come and sit with me for a few minutes. We have much to discuss and you don’t have that much time before you recover from your “activities” with my great-great-great-granddaughter” the voice says while chuckling. Jason shakes his head and follows the voice’s instructions to a small table in the middle of the clearing. There an older gentleman is playing chess and looks over to Jason and says, “Hurry up son, I have been waiting for you to make your move for some time now. I don’t have all day. Well I do but you know what I mean” Jason looks at the board and recognizes it from when him and David use to play and makes his move and soon settles down into a game like he and this gentleman have been playing for a long time together.

(interaction between the Elder and Jason)

-Elder: So, my Granddaughter likes you. I think it was about time we met. You move, check in 3.

-Jason: She is interesting, very, very, VERY intense, I’m just not sure. Your move.

-Elder: You know what you are don’t you? I bet you don’t know you are the only one of your kind. I bet you don’t know that you are being hunted by the humans right at this moment and being with Amelia and the Clan is the safest place you can be. Check in 2, your move.

-Jason: I didn’t ask for this! I don’t want this! I just want to be normal, live with my normal gay roommate and go to school. I mean, Amelia makes me feel something I have never felt before but she honestly scares me. She is so possessive over me. Can you explain that to me? Do you know anything about why I am the way I am?

-Elder: I can’t tell you that......…. Right now. There is someone who can but the only way for you to talk to them is for you to embrace ALL of you. You were meant to lead and revive your species. Jason you are NOT human, get over it. Whether you realize it or not you have always been surrounded by vampires. You just didn’t know it. -Jason: I hate you. Fucking David does the same strategy to me. I can never beat him. Is there anything you can tell me.?

-Elder: *Deep Belly Laugh* Sure I can tell you 2 things. 1.Remember David loves you, not as a friend but as a brother. Keep him very close; think of him like body armor. Better to have him and not need him than need him and not have him because you would get shot and die like in Beirut right? 2.You will determine how the world turns out. You are the future of our kind, ALONG with Amelia and everyone else. Just because you are the King doesn’t make you bulletproof, stay humble and take care of my granddaughter. She is a handful. “And now we are done and with that my friend is Checkmate. I enjoyed our conversation. I hope to see you again soon.” “Oh, wait I forgot this” the Elder says before you drift back **** and he touches your forehead. A sharp pain follows and a red diamond takes shape right between your eyes. “what’s this?” Jason wonders. “Just something to help you in the future and something to help me talk to you when you need a hand or 2. “the Elder says as he fades into the mist. “Live it up youngster. Troubling times before the good are ahead, bring our people into prosperity.” “And tell Amelia her Great-Great-Great grandfather said stop trying to kill her mate!”

Amelia is a mess, while her original intent was to show Jason her love she felt she killed him. Amelia called David, Adrian and Marcus into her chambers as she scrambled for anything to save her King. While everyone was bickering and talking amongst themselves the didn’t notice Jason begin to stir.

(conversation between Amelia, Marcus, Adrian, David)

David: is he dead?

Marcus: I didn’t think he could die

Amelia I did what you told me David and Adrian did during their date, why didn’t it work?

Adrian: My Lady, I don’t mean to be harsh but did you possibly cut to deep? Not seal a wound fast enough?

Amelia (turns to Adrian) I don’t know. He was begging me to stop and I didn’t listen. I was so consumed with my own lust I ignored him. I **** him to be here and I should have waited. He even asked me to wait until dawn and I said no. *starts crying*

David: What have I done, he was my only friend. He was my family.

Adrian (to David) I am so sorry

Jason(whispers) Hey guys, I’m fine…kind of

Amelia (inconsolable mess at this point) I killed the love of my life and the savior of our race. ONLY BECAUSE I COULDN’T TAKE NO FOR A ANSWER

Jason (hobbles to Amelia and slides his arms around her shoulders while whispering hoarsely) I wouldn’t say you killed me per say. But your Great-Great-Great Grandfather said to stop trying to kill me.”

Amelia spins slowly and looks up to a practically dead Jason and hugs him tight enough to break all of his ribs. While Jason and begging Amelia to let him go he is calming down Marcus, Adrian and finally David who feels like he betrayed his best friend by becoming a vampire and setting the whole situation up.

(conversation between Jason and David)

David: Dude I am so sorry about all of this.

Jason: Why, you found the love of your life. And afterlife, I guess lol

David: Yeah I know it’s kind of crazy right?

Jason: (nodding to Amelia) tell me about it. The love of my life is the damn Queen of the Vampire race!!

David: so what does that make you the Royal Concubine? Lol

Jason: (scratches his head) actually no someway, somehow I have vampire blood in me and me and her were destined to mate……to make a long story short I am her King and she is my Queen.

David: no shit……are you serious?

Jason: no shit dude, dead ass serious. You are the first to know outside of their “clan”. I didn’t even know until Amelia told me, then her Grandfather verified it when I died.

David: Holy shit. Well, are you a vampire?

Jason: I don’t know; all I know is I have this (points to the gem in his face) are you a vampire?

David: yeah Adrian has been showing me how to control my stuff.

Jason: So Adrian turned you the night I didn’t come home? How’d it feels?

David: How you know that? I didn’t tell you?

Jason: I don’t know man, I just know.

David: That’s weird. So you are the King of Vampires now huh? You know I’ll never call your Highness or anything like that right lol, I’ve been on the line unit with you lol.

Jason: Honestly dude, I don’t want the name. You know me. It’s not my style. If my job is to advice our people, then I’m going to put my nose to the grindstone and get to work. There is one thing you can do.

David: what?

Jason: you can be my No.2/Bodyguard.

David: Nah I can’t I gotta hang with the King. I know him, he and I go way back

David: You are my best friend. I’ll do anything for you brother. You don’t even have to ask.

Jason: I’m going to talk to my Queen but meet me later. I want to meet your lady
