Chapter 6

Melisa was a successful woman. She didn't have a partner, but she didn't need one. She lived in the present and owned a thriving chain of businesses, managing restaurants and apartments. Although she now delegated work to others, she could still manage it, as she was still the boss. One Christmas Day, arriving home as usual, she received a call and went out to the patio. I followed her and was surprised to hear how she handled the problem the manager, or whoever it was, was having. She sounded very nervous, but with complete composure, she resolved the matter in seconds. However, I didn't fully understand what she said, as I'm not an expert in finance, business administration, or any of the degrees she holds.

She has always been by my mother's side like a sister; they've known each other since kindergarten. When they started elementary school, she was bullied by the other children for being the only blonde. My mother defended her and encouraged her to be stronger, to have confidence and courage. So she continued her studies, and then my mother met my father. Even though she was now the one being bullied and her friends were distancing themselves from her, Melisa remained by his side.

At 20, Melisa, with my mother's support, invested all her savings and part of my father's inheritance—which my mother had given her to help her fulfill her dreams—in businesses, shops, and restaurants. Melisa's family told her she was crazy to waste money like that and warned her that if she failed, they wouldn't welcome her back. An argument ensued, and Melisa ended up leaving home and staying with us. In the end, some of the businesses she invested in went bankrupt, while others thrived. Although she didn't recover even half of her investment, she learned from the experience and invested in more businesses. My mother, her unwavering supporter and always ready to help her friend, let her stay as long as necessary, seeing her as a sister who had always been there for her, and Melisa felt the same way, making them the only family they had.

After years of investing, by the age of 25, Melisa was already the owner, advisor, investor, and partner in multiple companies.

She has a stunning figure, which she uses to her advantage. In business, she wore clothes that accentuated her generous cleavage to distract partners who thought she was foolish, thus keeping them completely under her control. But she was also fair to those who genuinely wanted to do business, and she made them partners. She is a respectable, beautiful, and intelligent woman, and she never forgot my mother. Although her work takes her all over the world, she comes to visit us for Christmas, birthdays, and some holidays. Now I only see her three or four times a year, but she always stays in touch with my mother.
