Chapter 3a: Ero wins the bet
The week goes by, mistakes are made, and demerits are given to each other. Friday night arrives.
We go through the week, reviewing incidents, drinking our beers, and count up our demerits. The tension in the apartment is thick enough to choke on. The beers sit untouched on the table, sweating onto coasters as Vashanti stares at the tally sheet we created. She hasn't looked at me directly all evening, afraid that catching my eye might break her resolve or reveal just how much her hands are shaking.
She recounts her own errors with a grim, silent rhythm. The time she forgot to wipe the counter after breakfast. The moment she accidentally knocked over a stack of mail. Each mistake feels magnified, a heavy weight pressing down on her chest.
"Okay," she says, her voice tight, cutting through the oppressive silence. She finally lifts her gaze to meet mine, her amber eyes flashing with a mixture of defiance and dread. "Let's do the math. I'm not hiding from it”
I count mine—eight. I had eight demerits this week.
"Eight”, I say, looking at her. "I had eight demerits this week. How many did you have?""
Chapter 3a:
Vashanti's hands tremble as she traces the marks she made throughout the week. She counts them slowly, her breath hitching in her throat. "One... four... six... seven... nine."
Nine. She has failed. By a single point.
She lets out a shaky, bitter laugh, pushing her chair back from the table. The sound is hollow, echoing in the quiet room. She has spent the entire week performing perfection, fighting for her independence, and she lost because of a few minor lapses in judgment. Now the consequence looms, inescapable and visceral.
I gasp, then I smile as I look down at my own score. It means I have won. My eyes find hers across the table.
"Vashanti," I say, my voice careful and deliberate, "I won, didn't I?"
The triumphant glint in my eyes hits her like a physical blow. She wants to snap back, to reclaim her dignity with a witty retort, but the words die in her throat. I have won. The predator has caught the prey, and the rules we both agreed upon are now absolute.
She stands up, her legs feeling strangely weak, and walks toward the living area. Her movements are stiff and deliberate. She stops several feet away from me, her posture rigid, trying to maintain some semblance of the poised woman she pretends to be. But her breathing is shallow, and her eyes betray her, darting around the room as if searching for an exit that does not exist.
I step toward her slowly, my expression softening. There is no cruelty in my gaze now—only intention.
"I want you to tell me what it means," I say, my tone gentle but firm. "I want to hear the truth in your voice as you tell me what is about to happen to you."
The request is designed to strip away her final layer of defense: her composure. She feels the sting of tears pricking at the corners of her eyes—not from sadness, but from the sheer, overwhelming embarrassment of being cornered like this. She clenches her fists at her sides, her knuckles white, struggling to force the words past the lump in her throat.
"I know exactly what happens," she whispers, her voice barely audible. She refuses to look down, forcing herself to maintain eye contact even as her cheeks flush a deep, burning crimson.
"You won," she starts, her voice cracking slightly before she steels it. She takes a shuddering breath, her gaze fixed on a spot just above my shoulder, unable to bear the intensity of my expression. "Because I lost, I have to accept the punishment. You get to pick my outfit... and then..."
She chokes on the final part, her face burning so hot it feels like it might blister.
I smile at her from ear to ear, but there is warmth beneath it—an acknowledgment of her courage.
"And then?" I prompt, my voice steady and low.
Her jaw tightens so hard it aches. She can feel the heat radiating from her own skin, a visible blush that betrays her bravado. She closes her eyes for a brief second, gathering the fragments of her shattered poise, before forcing herself to finish.
"And then," she says, her voice dropping to a strained, humiliated whisper, "you get to spank me. Over your knee. Like... like a child."
She opens her eyes, glaring at me with a ferocity that masks her terror. She looks like a cornered queen—beautiful and utterly defeated by the very rules she helped write.
I reach out and gently touch her cheek, my thumb brushing away a tear that has escaped.
"Vashanti," I say softly, "I am going to do this. But know that I will take care of you. Unless you want to go back to your family and tell them that you quit your side of the bet? You could return and live your pampered life on their money. Though they will never let you live it down."
The mention of her family acts like a bucket of ice water thrown over her shame. The thought of retreating—of crawling back to the gilded cage of her parents' approval, admitting she could not handle a simple semester of independence—is more nauseating than the prospect of the punishment itself. To her, that defeat would be permanent. This? This is just a transaction. A debt paid.
She draws herself up to her full height, her spine snapping straight despite the tremble in her knees. Her amber eyes burn with a sudden, fierce clarity.
"Don't you dare try to bait me into cowardice, Eros Apostasia," she snaps, using his full name like a weapon.
I nod, respect flickering across my face.
"Then come to me, Vashanti," I say, my voice taking on a deeper timbre. "Prove your commitment to me. Prove your willingness to surrender. Before I dress you in something silky and beautiful, I want you here. With me. I am going to have you bend over my lap. I will flip up your skirt and spank your bottom—the thin silk of your underwear, the only barrier between my palm and your skin. We will go slowly. I will check in with you. And when you are ready, I will dress you for the main event."
The bluntness of my instructions leaves her momentarily breathless. It is one thing to agree to a concept; it is quite another to hear the mechanics of it laid out so plainly. Her mind races—first to the indignity of being positioned over my knee, then to the sensation of my palm striking the thin silk covering her skin, and finally to the realization that this is only the prelude to what comes next.
She feels exposed even while fully clothed, as if my words have already stripped away her defenses. Yet there is a dark, rebellious thrill buried deep within her anxiety. She has spent her whole life being admired for her grace and her wealth; she has never been truly seen in her rawest, most powerless state. This is the ultimate surrender of her persona.
Slowly, with agonizing deliberation, she moves toward me. Each step feels like a mile.
I smile as she approaches, watching her with the patience of a hunter who knows his prey is ready.
"It is time, Vashanti," I say softly. "Are you ready for your spanking?"
