Chapter 2: Late Bloomer

One Month Later

When Izuku woke up, it wasn’t to the gentle sound of birds chirping outside his room nor cars screeching by as they began their morning commute. No, instead, it was the sound of slurping. Wet, furious slurping combined with a sensation that he had been quite accustomed to over the past month.

Someone had their lips wrapped around his dick.

The green-haired young man blinked away at the drowsiness he still felt, only for a bolt of pleasure to run up his spine. A dexterous tongue was flitting across his length, focusing on nearly every ridge it could while nails raked against his thighs. Between it and the velvety, molten mouth, the person attending to him was doing their absolute best to ensure that every inch of him was attended to.

“K-Kacchan…” The man began to moan. Rather than a response, the assailant doubled their efforts. From beneath the covers, Izuku could see the head furiously bobbing up and down his burly shaft, even more obscene sounds echoing in the small apartment room.

Not sitting idle, Izuku sat up slightly and reached both of his hands under the sheets. One cupped the assailant's face, something he had learned his lover absolutely adored, while his other quested further and found its target. A naked, soft, yet supple breast was ripe for the groping.

The two continued until Izuku felt the deep ache he had been brought to a dozen times over. “Kacchan, I’m about to blow.”

The girl heeded the warning. A simple squeeze of his thigh was all he needed to know that she was prepared. Adjusting his position in order to get a grip on the girl's head with both heads, Izuku pressed down and then let loose, erupting down his lover’s throat.

As his balls were drained of everything they had, he could hear the sound of his lover gulping away at what she could. Izuku was a lucky guy.

Soon, things calmed down, and Izuku finally ripped the covers off his lower body. There, between his legs, was none other than his first-ever girlfriend, his first love, Katsumi Bakugo. Sweaty and in a cock-drunk daze, the girl released her mouth's vice grip on his dick and rested her face against it.

Izuku swore he could see hearts in the ash-blonde girl's eyes as she smiled up at him, full of love. “Morning Nerd.”

Without hesitation, Izuku pulled the girl up and into his lap, then proceeded to do another one of Katsumi’s favorite things. Kiss. While their tongues danced, Izuku caressed and groped the athletic body held against his own. Although the girl was much smaller than him, Katsumi was very much focused on pursuing her dream of being the number one heroine, and her body showed it. With every curve were mouthwatering muscles that showed that Katsumi Bakugo meant business. Yet, at the same time, the girl retained her more than modest assets, assets that she loved to show off to her beloved boyfriend every chance she could. And her boyfriend appreciated them, even groping the supple ass in his lap, eliciting the girl to moan into his mouth.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t stay like this all day. Today was a big day for Izuku Midoriya. Today, he would be receiving One for All.

Izuku regretfully parted from his lover and whispered to her. “Morning Kacchan… Thank you, my love.”

The girl blushed and nodded, showing just how demure she could be in contrast to her usual bombastic self.

Reaching for a prepared towel, as Izuku had learned quite early on about his lover's proclivities, the man began to tenderly wipe off Katsumi's sweet-smelling sweat. Ever since the two started dating, the girl has been quite forward with her desire to pamper him whenever possible. Part of Izuku thought that perhaps this was a way of compensation for years of teasing, but he ultimately realized that Katsumi was simply too horny. That said, the two only ever got as far as handjobs and oral, never to the point of actual sex. When asked about why, the girl seemed sheepish and simply answered, “Soon.” When soon was, Izuku hadn’t a clue, but frankly, he didn’t mind. Life with this new Katsumi had been like a dream. One that he was very much glad he accidentally made for himself. If the girl wanted to wait, that was more than fine with him.

Katsumi watched as her boyfriend cleaned her up, a slight tug at the corners of his mouth clued her in on something. “So what’s got you all excited, nerd? Something I should know?

Startled, the flustered man quickly formed a response. “What, I can’t be happy to wake up to my girlfriend?”

Katsumi rolled her eyes. “You better be. But no, something else is going on. Talk.”

Izuku hesitated, knowing he had to tell her something but not the complete truth. "I just... I've got a big day ahead. Yagi-Sensei has some big news for me."

Katsumi's eyes narrowed slightly, suspicion flickering in her gaze. "Big news from Yagi-Sensei, huh? You sure this guy is from All Might's agency? Dude looks like a skeleton that's put on some pounds.”

Izuku couldn’t help but chuckle at the fact that Katsumi was referring to the number one hero and her idol as a skeleton. Not that she would know that, though. “You know he’s the real deal. He even brought us to his agency, remember?”

After the two started dating, Katsumi became more intimately involved with his scheduling, so finding out about his rendezvous with All Might was to be expected. Fortunately, the Hero had a plan and perfected his cover story with legitimate credentials for his private persona. Toshinori Yagi was already known to his own agency as All Might’s Private Affairs Manager, something that he didn’t particularly care about. So, adjusting his position to be a “Trainer for the Next Generation” was as simple as possible. The best part was that there was less paperwork!

“Yeah, I guess.” Katsumi huffed, letting go of her suspicion as she remembered her bag of All Might Memorabilia, which she had received for free as a souvenir. “It’s just… You've been pretty secretive about this whole training thing. What exactly are you up to?"

Izuku breathed out. He had practiced this with All Might. Together, they had to devise a way to logically explain the sudden growth the young man was sure to have once he inherited One for All. Even in this day and age, late bloomers were absolutely a thing, himself being a real example of it.

Speaking of which, he decided to name his unusual quirk “Retcon.” It seemed fitting enough based on how he’s used it thus far. Literally retconning reality around him based on his wishes. Unfortunately, the quirk wasn’t exactly something he could simply say he had. Even if he did, no one would believe him. Whatever he could change would just be as normal as can be to everyone else. Only he could acknowledge that anything was ever different.

In his tests, Izuku tried to get to know one of the boys in his class who had severe acne. Sure enough, after connecting with him, Retcon recognized their bond, and he was able to clear up his acne. When he tried to show Katsumi, she shrugged it off, saying he was always like that; in fact, she was almost jealous of how smooth he always kept it. So, with that hypothesis confirmed, Izuku decided it would be best not to try to explain his quirk, lest the people around him think that he was some sort of madman.

Putting on a **** smile, Izuku let Katsumi ‘in’ on his ‘big secret.’ "It's nothing to worry about. Yagi-Sensei thinks I might have finally developed a quirk, so we're working on bringing it out."

Katsumi studied him for a moment, her expression unreadable. Eventually, the gears clicked into place, and the girl grabbed her boyfriend's shoulder and began shaking him. "WHAT!? A Quirk!? Seriously!? But you did the toe thing, right!?"

“W-well, late bloomers happen all the time, you know.” Izuku tried explaining. Granted, there was irony in the fact that is precisely the case with Retcon.

“Not 18 years late!” The girl argued, and soon, a murderous scowl formed on her lips. “I swear if this guy is just stringing you along… All Might Agency or not, I’ll blow him the fuck up.”

Part of Izuku wanted to laugh at the thought of Katsumi trying to attack All Might, her literal idol, on his behalf. “It’s not like that… He noticed something during our training session that seemed to indicate something. Trust me on this.”

Katsumi sighed. She could never say no to those damn puppy eyes. “Fine… But seriously, picking up trash made him think you have a quirk? Whatever, just… be careful.”

Izuku smiled and brought the half-naked girl back in for a hug. He loved this girl. “I will, Kacchan.”

The two washed up and continued their morning routine. Once prepared for the day, they walked hand in hand into the apartment's dining area, Inko Midoriya cheerfully awaiting them.

“Morning, you two! I prepped some breakfast before you head out.” The mother whirled around and placed plates of hearty proteins and fruits in front of the couple. “I’m sure you’ll need it after all that “exercise” this morning.”

As the couple sat down, their faces turned atomic red, realizing their “alone” time was nothing but. Katsumi, however, shrugged it off and pulled her plate closer to her. “Just a bit of fun is all. Thanks for breakfast, Ms Midoriya. Could use something more solid.”

Izuku spat out the water he had just taken a swig of. He couldn’t believe just how blunt his girlfriend could be.

Inko laughed. “Oh, young love… I remember when your father was with us… The two of us would use to-”

“That’s okay! I don’t need to hear it.” Izuku interrupted in a **** attempt to keep the image of his parents going at it from circulating in his brain.

Katsumi laughed at the boy's plight while Inko giggled to herself and began eating her own meal. The trio continued chatting away while eating, a merry mood warming the Midoriya household. Breakfast like this had quickly become a norm, and Izuku didn’t mind it at all.

Kissing his Mom goodbye and splitting off from Katsumi with a more “intense” kiss, Izuku ran off toward where he’d already spent a large portion of his summer. When he arrived at Dagobah Beach, the familiar sight of All Might in his true form awaited him. Through their efforts this past month, the beach was significantly cleaner. People still shied away from the place due to the smell of the remaining scrap and trash, but at their pace, it wouldn’t be long until this place was a proper beach for the community to spend their time in the sun. Giving back to the community was as much a heroic effort as stopping a villain, and Izuku was proud to do it.

"Good morning, young Midoriya," All Might greeted with a smile. "Today is the day. Are you ready for this?"

Izuku nodded, feeling the weight of the moment. "Yes, sir. I'm ready."

“I was worried at first, you know. One for All takes quite a bit of physical strength to harness. Yet in only a month's time, you’ve proven that you are more than ready.” The hero's expression turned serious. "Receiving One for All is a great responsibility. Are you prepared to carry this burden and use it for the good of others?"

"I am," Izuku replied, determination shining in his eyes. "I want to be a true hero, just like you."

All Might nodded, his smile returning. "Then let's begin."

As his idol announced the start of his inheritance, Izuku tilted his head in confusion as the man pulled one of his long blonde locks from his head and held it out to him.

"Eat this," All Might said.

Izuku blinked, taken aback. "What?"

"For the transfer to work, you need to ingest a part of my DNA," All Might explained with a grin.

Feeling a mix of apprehension and resolve, Izuku took the hair and swallowed it. Once down the hatch, Izuku prepared for a sudden surge of energy, like water pouring through a floodgate. But there was nothing?

All Might watched him closely. "How do you feel?"

Izuku took a deep breath, trying to sense the immense power now residing within him. "I feel... something… I think?"

All Might laughed. "Or it’s indigestion.”

The aspiring hero shot his mentor a wry smile. “Are you just pulling my leg, sir?”

“Not at all, my young successor.” All Might leveled a serious look toward Izuku. “Be assured. You now carry the awesome power that is One for All. You may not feel it yet, but soon you’ll be leaping over buildings and punching hurricanes.”

As the hero spoke, Izuku felt something nestle into place within him, as if his own quirk moved to give room for One for All. Suddenly, he felt it. Power. The boy's eyes widened. “I think I feel it now!”

All Might nodded, satisfied. “It will take time to harness this power fully, but I have faith in you. Remember, this quirk is not just about strength. It's about heart and resolve. Now, let’s give it a shot!”

Thinking that he could simply call upon the great power right off the bat was folly. After the transfer of One for All, Izuku and All Might spent the rest of the day at Dagobah Beach, trying to see if Izuku could access his newfound power. Despite their best efforts, Izuku struggled to call upon the incredible might of One for All. Regardless of what he felt, each attempt ended in frustration, with Izuku feeling the weight of his inadequacy.

All Might watched with a mix of concern and patience, understanding all too well the challenges of mastering such a powerful quirk. As the sun gave its usual signs of setting, casting long shadows across the beach, Izuku slumped to the ground, his spirit dampened.

"I'm sorry, Yagi-Sensei," Izuku said, his voice tinged with disappointment. "I can't seem to get it right."

All Might placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Don't be too hard on yourself, Young Midoriya. Mastering One for All takes time. You're not alone in this journey."

Izuku nodded, but the disappointment was still evident in his eyes. All Might, wanting to lift his spirits, had an idea. "How about we call it a day and enjoy some dinner together? It’s important to rest and recharge. And despite not using it yet, we can celebrate you finally having a quirk!"

That last sentence made the boy chuckle in irony, but Izuku's mood brightened at the suggestion. "That sounds great, All Might. But... can I invite Katsumi and our parents too? Even if I can’t tell them about One for All, I want them to be the first to know I have a quirk."

All Might smiled warmly. "Of course. The more, the merrier."

With the go-ahead, Izuku sent texts to his mother and Katsumi, inviting them and Katsumi’s parents to dinner at a local family-style restaurant nearby. A few short minutes later, he received their responses and geared up to head home and clean up. After a brief shower, Izuku was squeaky clean and escorted his mother to the restaurant.

As he didn’t need to get cleaned up, Toshinori Yagi stood vigilant in front of the eatery and welcomed the Midoriyas as they arrived. The man stayed in his “frailer” form as it obviously would attract far too much attention if he was otherwise.

“Good evening!” Toshinori greeted Inko with a wide smile. “My name is Toshinori Yagi, and I am Young Izuku’s mentor on his rigorous road to being a hero. You must be Mrs. Midoriya. A pleasure to meet you.”

“Ah, just Ms. Midoriya.” Inko corrected, a forlorn look flashing across her face. “My husband passed away several years ago now.”

“My greatest apologies, I hadn’t known.” Toshinori apologized as he quickly composed himself. “I’m sure he would be proud to see the young man his son has grown up to be.”

A smile returned to Inko’s face as she glanced at her son. “That he would be.”

Izuku shared her smile, though he truthfully had few memories of his father. The man had been overseas more than he was ever home, though his mother assured the young man that his father truly loved him.

The three continued to chat as they waited for the remainder of their party to arrive. Soon enough, the Bakugo family strolled up to the venue and shared hugs and kisses with their close family friends. Izuku watched from the side with Katsumi as Yagi-Sensei introduced himself once again, this time with the added mention of him representing All Might’s agency. Mitsuki and Masaru Bakugo were nearly starstruck that someone of such importance was taking so much time to help out Izuku.

“The boy has the heart of a hero. The second I saw him run in to save your daughter, I knew what I needed to cultivate.” Toshinori said proudly and from the heart. “I’m sure he and your daughter will be tremendous heroes one day.”

Those words overjoyed all three parents, though teasing from Mitsuki Bakugo quickly followed.

“Hear that brat, you might actually have a shot.” Mrs. Bakugo grinned as she ruffled her daughter's unruly hair. “Maybe even a better one if you actually behaved around folks other than your boyfriend.”

Katsumi snorted. “Yeah, yeah. Whatever, Mom.”

With introductions out of the way, the party entered the venue and was quickly seated. Apparently, Toshinori used his “All Might” card to get favorable seating, something he rarely used but felt was suitable for the situation. The wait staff flew through, took their various orders, and left them with plenty of complimentary bowls of bread.

While they waited for their meals, Katsumi couldn't help but side-eye Izuku. "So, did the thing you were hoping for happen?"

All Might and Izuku shared a quick look and nodded. All Might took the initiative and covered for the too-honest-to-lie boy. “That’s correct, Young Bakugo. As you may have figured, tonight isn’t just a random outing. Tonight is a celebration, as Izuku Midoriya has finally awoken his quirk!”

All eyes went wide at the announcement. No one at the table could speak, let alone react to the news. Society had been harsh on the boy for being quirkless for eighteen long years. Now, a person from the reputable All Might Agency was saying he indeed has one after doctors deemed things otherwise. Unreal.

The first one to finally react was Izuku’s own mother, who shot up from her seat and lept toward her son to give him the tightest hug she could possibly muster. “My baby! Is it true!?”

Tears welled up in Izuku’s eyes. Knowing that he technically didn’t need to lie made it so much easier. “Yeah… It’s true.”

Tears poured out of the mother’s eyes. For as much as she supported him, she couldn’t help but feel awful for all the time he had thought he was quirkless. Both she and Hisashi blamed themselves for being unable to pass their quirks or at least something down to their son. Years of guilt had built up until she chose to be more proactive in her son’s growth. Quirk or no quirk, she was going to help her son achieve his dream. But that was now a thing of the past. Her baby had a quirk all along. “I’m so happy for you! I can’t believe this!”

On the other side of the table, the Bakugos shared the sentiment. Both shed tears watching the boy being bear-hugged by his mother. The two had practically thought of Izuku as their own; they even saw his coupling with their daughter as inevitable. They were over the moon with joy. Even All Might shed a tear after watching the reaction. Although he never experienced quirklessness, he was fully aware of their societal status. Something he hoped to change one day.

Even Katsumi didn’t know what to say. She had fought off bullies for years for trying to pick on her best friend. To think that he had a quirk all this time. Fighting off her own stupor, she stood up, marched over to her boyfriend, and planted a kiss on his lips. “Congrats, dork. Let’s be the greatest heroes. Together.”

Izuku nodded from his place in his mother's hug. He couldn’t help but feel immensely blessed.

“So what’s your quirk?” Masaru asked as the initial emotional overload calmed down.

Izuku’s head froze for a second. In a panic, he glanced toward his sensei, who swooped in with a logical answer.

“We believe it’s some sort of strength amplification, though we are not quite sure in what manner.” Toshinori explained before laughing as he continued, “You know how quirks can be. Some are never quite as straightforward as they seem.”

The adults accepted the answer and continued congratulating the young man of the hour. The rest of dinner continued in joy and merriment. As their food arrived, they feasted and partied until their stomach and hearts were full. Conversation flowed naturally as the parents took turns sharing embarrassing stories of their children with Toshinori, and he, in turn, shared some amusing anecdotes from his days training Izuku.

Eventually, Izuku felt a strange sensation, a familiar pull of Retcon at work. Quickly grasping the intent, he looked up and observed Katsumi’s parents. It had been a while since he last saw the couple, maybe even as long as he had known about his new quirk. It made sense. Katsumi always tried to keep her boyfriend as far away from their teasing as she could.

'What would I change if I could?' he wondered, trying to keep his thoughts in check. He could sense his quirk reaching out, but he focused on the present moment, not wanting to risk any unintended changes. He was close to the Bakugos and wouldn’t dare change anything drastic. They were a second family to him, especially now after dating Katsumi. But was there something he could do for them?

Thinking about Katsumi’s parents, he considered how this could be a good test of how his retcons could also affect others even if they weren’t the target. As much as he loved Katsumi as she was, he wondered if an edit to her parents could affect who she was now. Perhaps he could even charge their relationship with his own mother. As close as they were, he knew that she had been quite lonely since his dad passed. As much as they were family friends, making them closer friends could slightly alleviate that loneliness.

Focusing on Masaru, Izuku imagined the timid man as more outgoing and confident in his actions. Izuku respected how level-leaded his Uncle-figure was and hoped to keep that in place as well. Then he thought about how he could be better friends with his mother, perhaps childhood friends along with Mitsuki. That way, his mother would always have people she was close with, even in her darkest hours.

Then he turned his attention to Mitsuki. Much like for her husband, he wanted to keep Mitsuki’s close relationship with his mother much the same. Other than that he wasn’t all that sure on what to do. He thought there might be something he could do to help her get closer to her daughter, but nothing came to mind. Katsumi couldn’t be less interested in fashion like her mother. Heck, the only thing that came to mind was her passion for heroes.

Izuku was struck with an epiphany. ‘Is that possible? Could I make Mitsuki into a pro hero?’

There was no proof that he couldn’t, but it would arguably be the most drastic change he could make. Could he try it? Should he try it? The quirk nerd in him really wanted to know his limits, but to do so on his girlfriend's mother? Was it worth the risk?

Curiosity bubbled within him. ‘If I phrase things wrong, could Mitsuki never have met Masaru? Could Katsumi vanish from existence altogether? If I’m going to do this, I need to be specific.’

Izuku recalled that his girlfriend's parents met through fashion design, so their relationship should stay the same if Mitsuki ended up in the same place. History should stay its course. Taking the plunge, Izuku felt his bond with Mitsuki tighten as Retcon made its connection. Then, things shifted.

Instantly, Izuku knew his hypothesis was correct. He sighed in relief as the same group of people were sat at the table. Yet, he could tell that at least some things were different. For one, Masaru engaged more actively in the conversation, his voice strong and assured. He even was explaining the history of the three adults to Yagi-Sensei. "Somehow, we knew our kids would be as close as we are. The three of us were childhood friends, you know? It only makes sense that our kids would be the same.”

Inko smiled warmly. "Yes, it's wonderful to see how things have come full circle."

Izuku was amazed by the difference in atmosphere the man had, yet the more surprising change came from his wife. Izuku looked upon his girlfriend's mother and saw someone who looked very much the same, yet the aura around her felt different—stronger, yet more refined.

Mitsuki Bakugo exuded charisma in equal share as presence. The woman spoke of her side of history with fondness. “Plus, the kiddos want to be heroes, just like how I was. Hopefully, they shine a bit brighter than “Glycerin, the Slick Hero.” God, I should’ve picked a better name.”

“Yeah, it’s a pretty shit name. Especially when it’s just the name of your quirk.” Katsumi chortled, teasing her mother back. “Won’t be hard to be better than rank 389.”

Mitsuki chuckled and rolled her eyes. Turning back to Yagi-Sensei, she wrapped up her side of the tale. “And that’s how I got into fashion design, where I met back up with my handsome dork over there. Couldn’t stay away from me, could you?”

Masaru shared the same grin. “No, I could not.”

Izuku watched on in amazement. For the first time, his Retcon did precisely what he wanted. It made Masaru outgoing and Mitsuki into a former pro! What else could his quirk do?

Inko laughed. "We've been through a lot together, and your workout routine has done wonders for me and Izuku."

Mitsuki chucked. “Had to get Bean Sprout some muscles on him! Kid was a twig growing up!”

When he was pulled back into the conversation, Izuku recalled the various workout routines the former Pro had started him and his mother on. It was fair to say that his current physique was partly due to her efforts.

“I sure am thankful. I’m sure the dork is, too.” Katsumi commented from the side. Izuku looked at her for the first time since the retcon and noticed something different about her. The blonde's demeanor also seemed subtly different, and her clothes were actually somewhat fashionable. She was still very much a tomboy, but how she wore her clothes and make-up seemed more influenced. The confident girl caught his eye and smirked, puffing out her chest so he could get a nice view down the cleavage of her blouse.

While Izuku blushed from the thought of showing off his “muscles” to his girlfriend, Toshinori's eyes widened in recognition. "Glycerin? I thought that name sounded familiar! You’re the pro hero turned fashion designer. I had no idea!"

Mitsuki grinned. "That's me. It’s nice to be remembered every now and then. Like my brat said, I never charted all that well. My quirk could only carry me so far. Fashion is my calling now, as you can see by my daughter's clothes. One of my nice ones, I’d reckon."

“Nonsense.” Toshinori chuckled, shaking his head in admiration. "You’ve made quite the impact in both fields. It’s not the quirk that defines the hero. It’s their heart. It’s why I approached young Midoriya in the first place. When he ran in to save your daughter, quirkless or not, he showed me that he had the makings of a great hero."

Blushing even more from the compliments, Izuku tried to hide his face, but a hand on his thigh caught his attention. Looking up, he saw Katsumi looking him in the eyes.

“He is my hero.” The girl spoke softly. Then she turned toward All Might, her eyes shining with a fiery light. “And you better not be pulling his chain about this whole quirk thing!”

The undercover hero coughed and collected himself. “Worry not, Young Bakugo. The boy exhibited a tremendous amount of strength in an instant! I’m sure that with his quirk, the boy will rival All Might himself!”

Inside, Izuku could only laugh at the comparison. Even with the man’s own quirk, comparing himself to his idol was almost blasphemous. Regardless, the hero believed in him, and it was up to him to live up to those expectations.

The night continued onward like this, and all the while, Izuku observed the changes with a mix of awe and apprehension. His adjustments had significantly improved the dynamics at the table, making the atmosphere even more lively and enjoyable. Masaru was radically different in demeanor but still had the kind heart he had shown his whole life, while Mitsuki was more energetic and charismatic. These successfully made their way into his girlfriend, albeit not to a tremendous effect.

Izuku sighed in relief that his experiment didn’t radically change the girl he loved but rather enhanced her. It was also amusing to see how much more Katsumi looked up to her mother now. He recalled back to a life where a boy would scratch in anger at any ribbing from his mother. Now their relationship felt more… nicer? He guessed. They still ribbed at each other, but Izuku could see Katsumi's respect and love for her. After all, Mitsuki was a hero and was closer to home than All Might could ever be. It made sense that the hero Glycerin was yet another goal for Katsumi to desire to pass.

As they finished their meal and the evening drew to a close, Izuku felt a deep sense of satisfaction. He took a risk tonight, and it paid off. He learned a bit more about his quirk's limitations and better understood how it connected and bonded with those around him. If he could turn his girlfriend's mom into a pro hero, who knows what else it could do?
