Chapter 14

So where was Gavin, anyway?

"Right here!” Gavin said.

He was in his room holding up a pair of multi-sided dice. “Found them, at last,” he said.

“Oh goody,” Violet said feigjing a smile, “I was afraid you weren’t going to.”

“I’d never let you down,” Gavin said.

He had spent the last 20 minutes explaining to rules and wonderment of Dungeons and Dragons to his retro dressed female visitor. She smiled and feigned interest but Gavin didn’t notice that. He just noticed the pretty blonde with the 1940s looks hanging on his every word sitting on his bed. Kat was never interested in Dungeons and Dragons, that’s for sure.

A few minutes later there was a banging on his door.

“Uh, I’ll be right back,” Gavin said, getting up and heading to the front door. “Stay right here.”

He opened it to see an angry mud-covered Kat standing there.

“Where have you been?” Kat said. She was clearly upset.

“Oh no,” Gavin said. “I’m sorry I forgot about today.”

While the two of them talked Violet went searching through Gavin’s room. She came across and perfectly labelled group of memory sticks.

“I left my key at home and without you there they wouldn’t listen to me,” Kat said.

“Is this why…”

“I’m covered in mud? Yes, this is why!” Kat said.

“Was it Danny? What did he do?” Gavin felt awful.

“Of course. What do you think happened? He threw me in some mud and he walked off laughing at me!” Kat said. “Where have you been this week? How could you leave me like this?”

“I don’t know,” Gavin said, “I’m so sorry.”

That’s when over Gavin’s should Violet appeared. Kat’s eyes widened when she saw the older blonde girl standing inside Gavin’s house.

“Is everything all right,” Violet asked.

Kat’s face grew red. She wanted to yank every strand of hair off of Violet’s pretty blonde head.

“Oh I see,” Kat said. And then she ran off.

“Wait Kat, don’t go!” Gavin said.

But it was too late. Kat was gone. Down the driveway and down the street, she was gone in a flash. Gavin felt his heart sink. He had let his best friend down. And that jerk Danny had shoved her in the mud. What was he thinking? Didn’t he know that Gavin had the goods on him? Maybe it was time for that little sex video to get out. That would show that rich bully he can’t just do whatever he wants.

“I told you to stay in my room,” Gavin said quietly.

“I’m sorry,” Violet said, pouting her perfectly painted lips. “I didn’t know. “

Gavin sighed. “It’s okay.”

“There’s something else. I had a little accident,” Violet said.

Gavin went back to the room to see that Violet had spilled some Coke on his open laptop. It was likely ruined.

“Oh no,” he said.

***

“It’s done.”

“Already?” Vanessa said excitedly into her phone.

“Oh please, this was a piece of cake,” Violet said.

“You simply must give me all the details,” Vanessa said.

“Oh, if you insist,” Violet said.

“I do, indeed, but not over the phone. Let’s do lunch. I have something for you anyway,” Vanessa said.

“Fine. I’ll see you in an hour,” Violet said.

The two finalized their plans for lunch later that day and Vanessa hung up the phone. She was practically giddy. “We’re free,” she said to no one.

The spoiled teen then walked through her mansion to the kitchen and burst through the swinging door.

“Jacque,” she said, “prepare me your finest pastries at once!”

The kitchen staff all stopped and turned. Jacque, an older man in a white chef uniform wiped his brow.

“But madam, you have told me to not make any pastries, remember?”

Jacque had been fired from the English household three times. All by Vanessa in a fit of rage. The last time was after being humiliated by Kat. She had blamed him for using too much sugar in his food which had caused her to gain weight. Each time though, Vanessa’s father had called the skilled chef back. Now here was the mercurial Vanessa again making an order seemingly on a whim of some kind that contradicted earlier orders.

“I don’t care what I once TOLD you. I just want you to do what I am TELLING you,” she said.

“Oh yes, madam,” Jacque feigning a smile.

“Danny will be here in an hour and I want these done by then,” she said.

“Of course.”

Vanessa then marched out of the kitchen off to her side of the mansion. As she confidently strode, she was absolutely giddy. She had won. Had defeated that little brat and her nerdy friend. No more awful spankings. And Danny heroically threw Kat into the mud. What a man! Oh, what a day! She hurried off to her boudoir to get ready for Danny’s arrival.
