Championship Game: The Predators win!

Author's Note: A very special thank you to Xblade for helping me with describing the Championship football game! I am not nearly as well versed in football and many of the descriptions are with his aid. Thank you Xblade!

After trailing badly at half-time and looking like a team devoid of spirit the Cougars and their fans were hopeful that the second half would prove a comeback story for the ages. looked somewhat of a different unit when the third quarter got under way. Unfortunately, whatever occurred (or didn't occur) in the locker room during halftime wasn't enough to motivate the Cougars to overcome the lead the Predators had. The Cougars put up a few more points. Two touchdowns and a field goal. But the Predators simply kept ahead of them with their own touchdowns. A fateful interception after a long drive down the field crushed most Cougar fans' spirits. Ultimately the Predators ended up winning the game and the championship. The team and Coach Reed were devastated. It was a sullen ride for the players, band nerds, cheerleaders, and others who accompanied the team.

Leah tried to tell Coach Reed "good try" but he was busy with the players and his mood was sour. The cheers of the opposing team as they charged the field in victory reverberated in her mind as she got in her car and headed home to Jonathan. The drive took a while and when she finally got home Jonathan was in bed. He groggily kissed her.

"Who won?" he asked sleepily.

"They did." Leah said as she began to take off her clothes and get ready for bed.

"Sorry to hear that." he said, turning over in the bed and closing his eyes while adding "Good night babe." She tidied up quickly and then slipped into bed tired from the long day and she was soon asleep...
