Cerulean Beach

Old Cerulean Beach (or Old CeruleanBeach as it used to be written in the past) is where the first people settled to form the core of what would later become the Cerulean Beach as we know it. From there they spread in two directions: to the water to become fishermen and more inland to become farmers.

The fishermen’s wharfs became what is now known as The Docks. Here all the water-bound traffic can be found. The Docks is also the place where you will find the harbour and port related activities. Later on, when Cerulean Beach became more known as a beach holiday location with its large beaches left and right of the more urban part of Cerulean Beach, a marina was established adjacent to The Docks that became known as The Green.

When Cerulean Beach was settled the farmers moved out to more inland plots of land. But because the farms lay away from the city, they needed a place to sell their produce to the people of the city. So, a place between the farms and the city arose where farmers, fishermen, craftsmen, and in time also trade goods from the port, and salesmen from outside the city would sell their goods. Initially each of the five groups had their own market but as each one expanded, they became one great market and eventually it got absorbed by the city and is still known as Five Markets.

Contrary to popular belief Middleforge doesn’t come from the middle forge implying that there were other forges but from a smith in the middle of the craft district. As history goes a smith set up shop a bit outside Cerulean Beach (now Old Cerulean Beach) and in time other craftsmen gather around the smithy and it grew into a hamlet that became known as Middleforge. As the city expanded it eventually became part of Cerulean Beach. At the port side you now find warehouses for long-time storage and at the other side workshops and factories. Middleforge is the place where the industrial growth of Cerulean Beach takes place.

South District is the newest district of Cerulean Beach. It emerged in the wake of Cerulean Beach’s rise as holiday destination. With the opening of the marina next door to the harbour, a demand for lodging close-by arose. You see people who had a boat at the marina wanted a place close to the marina where they could also enjoy the seaside view. Added to this was the fact that the beach became a popular destination as Cerulean Beach gained popularity as holiday destination. Nowadays South District is the most touristic part of Cerulean Beach and the place-to-be for nightlife. And the name, well someone thought it sounded nice and that's all there is to it.

Technically Cerulean Beach has two beaches but due to its closeness to the industrial district of Middleforge it has never been developed as such. Besides, that beach actually belonged to Middleforge until it became part of Cerulean Beach.
