Chapter 8 by TheMouse TheMouse

What's next?

Celibartion

You snuck out of Raven's room as the girls went to look for you, crawling your way back to your own room, making sure to lock your door.

The door opened, revealing a clean room with half-melted candles surrounding a meditation mat. Giant wooden boxes lined the walls, the wood chipped and moulding from age. Your mother's sword lay on your table with cleaning equipment.

You move over to the table, your hand reaching out to touch the handle, slowly you feel the leather bindings. Memories, some good, but mostly bad. You leave the blade on the table and slump down in your bed, your body aching after finally allowing it to rest.

You realised while talking with Raven that you needed to change. More accurately, you needed to change how you fight. You're not a killer, so you cant fight like one. The battle at the bank just proved to you that you lose control far too quickly. If they were ordinary people, you would have killed them.

You knew what you needed to do, but it didn't make it that much easier. Opening the safe you were given with your handprint, you grab the black communicator. You open it up and take a breath before speaking.

"Hey, it's me. There's no emergency; I just need a favour. One of the scrolls. Spsificley on for hand to hand combat, I need to change the way I fight." You pause for a moment, unsure as to what else to say, "I wanted to thank you, both of you, for helping me, and I promise I won't let you down. You can change the scroll however you want, but I want to change." After speaking, you close the communicator and place it back into its safe.

Laying back down on the bed, you think about just how strange your life is, but you are glad that you made it here. Your eyes begin to close as sleep slowly takes you. You don't care about nightmares now. You need rest.

You found yourself in a long stone corridor, the walls had strange markings on them, and no matter how hard you'd look, they seemed untellable. Looking down, your hands were dressed in black gloves and protective armour up your arms, your head covered by a metallic mask that you couldn't remove.

"Musibah", a voice whispers in your ear as if someone were standing itching behind you, your nerves fire up immediately. You swung around to attack whoever the voice was, but there was nothing there, only an empty hallway.

Again the voice calls out, this time sounded louder and firmer. "Musibah, my son", you're not thinking Clearly. You punch, kick and claw at your surroundings, trying to stop the voice from speaking. "Do not call me that!" you yell at the air, your anger now boiling over to rage and the coldness that was taking you.

You fall to your knees, trying to steady your breathing, your mind screaming at you as the cold tightens around you. "I am Rider, I am Rider," you say over and over again out loud to calm yourself. "You may be Rider now" you open your eyes and are met with a tall man wearing a black and white mask staring back at you. "But you will always be the monster I wanted. Fool the others, fool yourself."

The man dived towards you and pierced your chest with a blade in a fraction of a second. You looked down to see the blood gushing out of you before you fell to the ground. "But you will never fool me, my son."

You jumped up from your bed in a cold sweat. Just as a knock came from your door.

"Friend Rider", The joyful voice of Starfire calls out. You rub the sleep from your eyes and open the door. "Hey, star-" immediately she jumps to hug you, "IT is good to be the seeing of you!" she yells as you feel a few ribs crack. "Hi Star", you wheeze out as she releases her bear grip on you.

"Why are you back so soon?"

"Robin needed to return. I have missed the celebration."

It was strange to see Star upset, and It's not like Robbin to just leave out of the blue. Maybe you could cheer her up somehow?

"Hey Star, it's alright, why don't we have our own celebration here on earth? Just me, you and Raven." Star immediately brightens up. "That would be wonderous!" She yells before gripping you into another bone shattering hug before releasing you. "I shall start the cooking", she exclaims while flying out of your room to the kitchen.

"Why did you have to say anything," Raven whispers, sitting next to you on the sofa, clutching her nose shut as the odour from Stars meal fills the air. "She was upset. What was I supposed to do?" You say also holding your nose, you usually were okay with Stars cooking, but this was something else. The smell alone was burning your nostrils.

"I don't know, but not suggest she cook us a feast." You both look over to the kitchen, which is an absolute mess as Star darts back and forth from the contour to the smoking oven. "It will be finished soon, friends!" she says, beaming with a smile. You and Raven both give a weak smile before turning back around.

"Why did she have to come back so soon," Raven says more to herself than to you. "Upset that we couldn't finish?" you ask teasingly as Raven immediately turns away, slightly blushing. You smiled to yourself, "I meant what I said" you shift closer to her, and she doesn't move away. "If you want to try this, Raven", you place a hand on her shoulder, her face turns to look you in the eyes.

"I do," she says ", But I'm worried. I don't know what could happen. It's an old spell."

"Raven, do you want this?" Raven seems to think for a moment before answering.

"Yes, but what about Star? we're gonna have to keep it a secret."

"Whatever you want, pretty bird."

She smiles as you lift your hand to rub her cheek, gently pull her head towards yours, and she eagerly goes with it. "Not gonna blast me across the room this time?"

"Maybe its best we wait-"

You quickly kiss her cheek and brace for the impact, but sadly the TV was the one that suffered as the glass shattered and the TV fell off the wall landing with a crunch.

"Well, there goes movie night."
