Catherine gets all the dust

Chapter 4 by Iliketurtle

I stood there, frozen, my mind screaming for me to intervene while my body felt like it had been fused to the bedroom floor. The sight was surreal—my wife, in her cat-print t-shirt and tiny white panties, was practically waging a war of attrition against a few stray crumbs of garlic shrimp, all while Brady watched her with the focused intensity of a predator.

“Got it!” Catherine cheered, her voice muffled. She surged backward, sliding across the hardwood floor on her knees with a triumphant laugh. She sat back on her heels, chest heaving, her breasts still bouncing slightly from the exertion. She looked up at Brady, her eyes sparkling with the thrill of the win. “See? Told you I could get them all!”

Brady didn’t look at the floor to verify the cleanliness of the carpet. His gaze remained fixed on Catherine. "You're right!" He nodded, taking her by the waist and lifting her up. The shirt rode up with the movement, sliding past her hips, past her belly, and bunching up around her shoulders as Brady lifted her into a hearty embrace. He seemed to envelop her body, his hands roaming her backside before settling onto the swell of her bubble butt. Catherine just giggled like a schoolgirl, seemingly oblivious about the fact that she was practically naked apart from her bra, panties and the bunched up shirt that hung around her shoulders.

“Okay, okay! Put me down, you brute!” Catherine laughed, though she didn't struggle. Brady let her slide down his body slowly, his palms maintaining contact with her hips until the very last second.

I finally found my voice, though it sounded thinner than I wanted. “Catherine? Maybe you should... put your pants back on?”

"Nah man" Brady interjected, his voice dripping with a casual arrogance that made my skin crawl. "Remember how you said you said you would treat me like a member of the household?

"Exactly," Brady continued, his voice smoothing out into a confident drawl. "Members of the household don't mind if things are a little relaxed. Right, Cat?"

Catherine looked at me, then back at Brady, her expression genuinely thoughtful. "He does have a point, Mikey. It’s just a living room. Besides, it’s so humid tonight that clothes just feel like a burden." She didn't reach for the plaid shorts pooled on the floor. Instead, she kicked them out of the way with a playful little hop, leaving the fabric in a heap on the floor.

"Alright, wrap it up, lovebirds. The king needs his beauty sleep," Brady announced, his voice booming with a sudden, misplaced authority. He didn't just suggest I leave the room; he stepped into my space, his shoulder brushing mine as he physically nudged me toward the door. It wasn't a violent shove, but it was deliberate—the kind of casual displacement a bigger dog uses to claim a favorite spot on the rug. "Bedtime for the man of the house, and that means the help needs to clear out."

He let out a sharp, barking laugh, glancing back at Catherine, who was still standing there in her bra and panties, looking more like a confused teammate than a concerned wife. "The man of the house," I repeated, the words feeling like grit in my mouth. I looked at the bed—my bed—where the sheets were still smelling of Catherine’s lavender lotion, and then back at Brady, who was already eyeing the pillow like it was a trophy. He gave me one last, playful slap on the shoulder that nearly knocked the wind out of me. "Off you go, Mikey. Don't let the bedbugs bite while you're cuddling with the cushions in the lounge."

"Oh, Mikey, don't be such a grump!" Catherine chirped, her voice trailing after me as I retreated toward the living room. She trotted over, her bare heels clicking softly on the hardwood, and wrapped her arms around my neck from behind. I could feel the softness of her chest pressing into my back, a warm contrast to the cold knot of anxiety tightening in my gut. "It's all just a big joke. Brady’s just playing the part of the 'big man,' and you're playing the part of the 'spoiled husband.' It’s practically a theatrical performance!"

She giggled, the sound vibrating against my spine, and reached down to tug the hem of her oversized cat shirt back down over her hips. The fabric settled with a soft rustle, hiding the white cotton of her panties and the expanse of her pale thighs, though the shirt still clung to her curves in a way that felt far from modest. She kissed my cheek, her lips lingering for a moment as if trying to absorb the tension radiating off me. "Now, go get cozy on the couch. I'll bring you some extra pillows so you don't wake up with a kink in your neck."

Catherine’s promise of pillows vanished the moment she turned around and saw Brady already sprawled across the center of the mattress. He hadn’t even waited for her to leave the room; he had simply collapsed backward, his arms flung wide and his head resting on the pillow I had used for the last five years. He looked like a conqueror surveying a newly annexed territory, a smug grin plastered across his face. Catherine’s eyes lit up with a sudden, impulsive energy. Instead of heading toward the linen closet to fetch the extra cushions for my comfort, she let out a tiny, delighted shriek and launched herself into the air.

She hit the mattress with a heavy thud, her momentum bouncing her body upward and causing the bed frame to groan under the sudden impact. She didn't just lie down; she dove, her limbs flailing for a second before she landed in a tangled heap of pale skin and oversized cotton right next to him. The sheer force of her dive sent a shockwave through the mattress, nearly jarring Brady out of his smug repose. She curled into a ball, her breathing heavy and rhythmic, her laughter muffled by the duvet as she realized she had effectively "won" the race to the blankets.

The last thing I saw was Brady's dumb grin as he closed the bedroom door and locked it, something I had previously only imagined a husband doing before sleeping with his wife. I closed my eyes, trying to sleep as the flies around me buzzed, seeking the smell of beer and uncleaned crumbs. I think I even heard a rat in the wall. The last thing I remember before dozing off to sleep was the sound of Catherine's laughter, "I'm ticklish!"
