Chapter 136 by brevdravis brevdravis

Coffee with the professor twins

Catching up

"Ugh, Carla at least doesn't like Drama." I groaned.

"No, she loves it. Last time you stormed out, you know what she said? She said..."

"Well, I didn't do it at a dramatically appropriate point... no, I'm not taking the Cue, Sis." My wife's voice spoke from directly behind my head. It was then that I was very aware of Carla's presence, right behind me. She had come up almost silently, and with the oppressive din, I hadn't even noticed it. "I think I said something along the lines of 'are you done with him then?'"

"Hi Carla," I sighed, willing myself not to startle. She knew I hated it when she suddenly took her sister's cue and... Wait, no, she hadn't done it this time. "I... thanks for not shouting boo."

"Ok, please tell me they didn't put whip on it. It isn't even the good stuff most of the time." Carla's hand snaked out and I noted that she had decided on exactly the same polo shirt and jeans outfit as her sister. Right down to the forest green color. Dammit. The two of them looked like something out of an eighties gum commercial, and it didn't help that several passersby had begun to surreptitiously take pictures.

"No whip." I noted. My fingers dug into one of the pastries and tore a small piece which was accompanied by something that looked like a combination sugar rush and heart attack.

"Better than THAT place," Carla waved randomly behind herself as she settled in the chair and took a sip of her drink. "So, fucking hell, Sis..."

"I know... I'm not believing it either." Kaila nearly squealed.

"Ok, Can I please get some context here?" I argued, "I feel like I walked into a click bait article."

"Shhh. You'd think he'd be used to this by now," Carla rolled her eyes. "So, what happened with the high school cheerleader wanna bee Kardashian? You two gonna let her stay?"

"Shush, Brent," Kaila joined in. "It's... I told you, I told Carla about this week. Pretty much... everything."

"Everything?" I blushed. Sisters... "And don't you two start fucking shushing me. Can you treat me like I actually have a say in my marriage?"

"Uh..." Carla glanced at Kaila. "Now I feel like I missed something. In fact, well... ack, this makes this conversation so much worse, doesn't it?"

"I don't know, I think it kinda makes it better. I mean, it's not out of his comfort zone any more," Kaila grinned.

"Will you two please knock off the mysterioso twin crap?" I sighed.

"NO!" They responded simultaneously with identically extended tongues. I couldn't help but squeeze my eyes shut and laugh. Ok, that one... that one had been pretty good.

"Fine, let's get it over with, what did you want to ask me? I'll let you two go first, but then I have a few things I want to get off my chest." I really didn't usually mind it when they decided to do this stuff, but right now, and especially with everything that had been going on, I didn't need it today. In fact... How HAD Carla gotten down here from Marin?

"Ok, first off, Brent," Kaila began. "No, wait, that sounds wrong..."

"Uhm, it's not so much ask you as tell you, Brent," Carla explained. She reached across the table to grasp her sister's hand tightly. "So, we weren't sure how you were going to react to this."

"We figured it would be a better idea to tell you after the honeymoon," Kaila smiled.

"Enough fucking DRAMA!" I raised my voice, with more anger than I wanted. "Seriously, Chase, Cut to it, please."

"I switched out with Kaila this week," Carla stated. "I... we were going to tell you after."

"When?" I asked, thinking over the time. My face flushed angrily. Was that why she had been ignoring me? It hadn't even been Kaila? "WHEN were you going to tell me? When my Wife's sister shows up pregnant and nobody has any idea who the father is?"

"Brent... Fuck this isn't going how I... I thought you'd be happy," Kaila gasped. "I thought you'd..."

Well, you thought wrong.
