Catching A Rattata and Some Training

You eagerly set out north, toward Viridian city. It doesn't take long for you to find your first wild pokemon, the small, purple, rattata. It's not the most impressive pokemon by any stretch of the imagination, but you decide to test out catching a wild pokemon anyway. Your Squirtle quickly has the rodent pokemon looking staggered and you throw one of your regular pokeballs out. Like catching Lapas with the **** ball it shakes a few times then goes still, your pokedex dinging to indicate the new entry.

Pleased with the catch you move on, battling your way through a handful more rattata and pidgey with your starter, teaching it water gun and watching it become gradually more powerful.

After a days travel you make it to Viridian City. Exhausted you head for the pokecenter where your pokemon are hastily healed in a strange machine and you're offered a room which you accept. After a quick shower you collapse in exhaustion, sleeping deeply.

When the sun comes up you stretch in your bed, slowly sitting up to pull out your map. Spreading it out in front of you you weigh your options. The most obvious path is to the north, leading to Pewter City and the closest open gym. On the other hand route 22 to the west may offer some new pokemon catching and training opportunities. You could also stay and explore Viridian city a bit more. While far from a metropolis it's massive compared to the rural Pallet Town.
