Catch up with Gabby at school

I close the door behind me, and head to the office to check in. After that, I pick up some assignments from a few teachers and head to the cafeteria. It’s my lunch period.

“Hey Maddie!” Gabby greets me when I sit down.

“Oh, hey.” I greet her. “I have that paper.”

“Oh really? Thank you!”

I dig in my bag and give her the paper.

“This looks really long!” She says. “Some of these words are like, really big.”

“Don’t worry about it.” I tell her. “I threw in a few ‘likes’ to make it believable.”

“Well, thank you.” She tells me. “Actually, I like, totally have something for you too.”

“What is it?”

“Here.” She says, and hands me an old cellphone in a pink case. There’s a crack on the screen.

“This is expensive!” I protest. “You didn’t have to!”

“Don’t worry about it. It’s like, old. I’m like, not gonna use it and stuff.”

“You can use it to talk to boys.” The redhead chimes in.

“Aubrey’s right.” Gabby told me. “Make a Snapchat and then you can like, talk to Justin and stuff.”

“Justin’s like, sooo hot.” Aubrey adds.

“Totally.” Gabby giggles. “Here. Go in this app here, now make an account.”

“Okay.” I say, and take the phone from her. I enter my information and set up an account.

“You’re going to want a bitmoji so people don’t think you’re like, a creeper.” Gabby tells me.”

“A what?”

“It’s like, a character for your profile. If you like, don’t have one, people will think like, you’re like, some weird, old Indian dude or something like pretending to like, be a girl and stuff.”

“Oh, alright.”

“Here, let me like, make one for you.”

Gabby sits there for a few minutes tapping away at the screen and looking up at me as I eat.

“Here.” She says and passes the phone.

“Oh wow.” I giggle. “It does kind of look like me, but a little…”

“Sluttier!” Gabby says. “That’s good.”

“Okay, so now what?”

“You like, find Justin and you like, give him this username and like, talk to him and stuff.”

“Seems easy enough.”

“And like, send him sexy pictures.” She adds. “It’ll like, make him want you.”

“Sexy?” I ask, my eyebrows raised. “Like, nudes?”

“Unless you’re a prude.” The brunette teases me. “Guys hate that.”

“Oh… okay.” I giggle nervously, starting to blush a little. Everyone always told me that sending nudes was a bad idea. It might take a little bit for me to warm up to it, but if that’s what it takes to get a cute boyfriend, I might have ****.

The bell rings.

“Thanks for the… advice.” I tell the girls and leave awkwardly.
